AHA!! I new that cookie witch looked familiar and then I saw Frankie I knew I had that book. ha I was just looking at it the other day thinking of doing the pumpkin scarecrow on page 32! ha
Excellent job on Frankie. I think that the wreath idea will look sweet! I love Gaye Shoell stuff. So what are you going to do with the other one that not's going on the wreath?? Glad you've had some painting time. We get to be jealous of the cute things you are getting done! ~Anj

Yep, I looked at that pumpkin scarecrow too. Thought he would make a cute yard stake to put in the flower planters. I also fell in love with the cute kids on page 31. Probably wouldn't have noticed that one until now when I am a Gramma. ;o)

I've had this book for years but had only made the angel on page 54. My girlfriend has her now. I really like many of these patterns, and hope to get more of them made if and when I get around "tuit". Some of them would really look good enlarged a bit for a yard stake, don't you think?

I don't know why, but I was so excited that we have the same book. ha I know we both have the one with the bear that you painted on the metal bucket too for your neighbor. I've got one of those prepped to paint. I got the cookie jar one at my TS for 25 cents. Couldn't pass it up, it's got some great patterns in it. I was thinking along the lines of jiffy pops for the round ones. See the Midnight Snacks on page 42? I thought it would be cute to do the round part on the jiffy, but have the bats to stick on seperate with those puffy 2-sided tapes to give it a more dimensional look. The reindeer on 44 would look good that way too I thought. I do think the pumpkin scarecrow would look good on a stake. Except I'd probably stick it inside somewhere like in my ficus tree pot so I could enjoy it more. ha Too cold for me to be outside much anymore. As I was looking last night I have another Gaye Shoell book (Wood'n'Holidaze) with a full body Frankie with the exact same face. I think it was the one I was looking at to cut out to go with my Lizzie Witch. I just love those Gaye Shoell eyes. ha They make me smile. :) ~Anj

Anj, I was tickled that we had the same book too. Easier to talk about ideas for projects when we can see the pattern we are talking about. Of course you know that I sometimes add or leave off things when I paint a pattern--sort of do it to my taste and ability I guess.

That was a great find to get the book for only 25 cents. Some of the older books do seem to have patterns that are "out of style", but there are allot of them like this one, that are always popular. If I find one cheap, I always try to just look at the shapes and "ideas" to see if I could update it and still use it. The new books are pretty expensive now at $10.99 apiece, so I'm pulling out some of my old ones and relooking at them. I know I have allot of patterns that I wanted to do but never got around to.

I like the yard stakes (or plant pokes) because they look cute in the yard and are easy to store after the holiday.
I also have two metal side gates and a lamp post that I like to hang signs on.

Great idea for the Midnight Snacks pattern. I have a friend who stays up really late, I should make her that one. She would want it on a cookie/candy jar! LOL

I have the pumpkin from pg. 26 already cut out--just thought it was a cute simple pumpkin. I love the way they used Snow Tex for the texture on the chocolate chip cookie on pg. 16. Really made it look yummy! It was a "kit", so not sure what they used for the choc. chips tho.

I don't know if I have Wood'n Holidaze or not. I know I have another cookie jar book. Will have to look--not an easy task as I have a whole shelf full in no special order! I have tried to put them in holiday order, but many have multiple seasons so that plan hasn't worked very well. I usually just sit down and take a handfull at a time and look at the covers. LOL My painting and craft mags are not really organized either. Used to have them by title, but am now trying to file them more by seasons. That way I can pull out the whole Halloween group or Christmas group when I am looking for ideas.

Sorry your weather has gotten so cold already. At least it makes you want to stay in all warm and cozy, huh?

Imagine you have seen the Ca. fires on tv. We can see the smoke from the Lake Arrowhead one. It is a resort area, so the fire is going to be rough for the business there. The strong Santa Ana winds are really making it difficult to put them out. And we are behind on rain, so things are really dry too. Feel so bad for the people who are losing their homes.

Luvs~ I haven't seen the news so didn't know about the fires. Always scary if you can see them. To me anyway. We've had some fairly close to us before and we could smell the smoke. Made me nervous.
