Saturday Chautauqua

Good morning everyone. Really had a great day yesterday. Here is a picture of my display table at the Master Gardener Workshop called Chautauqua where I set up a table of my work and also was one of the presenters for a session titled Mosaics in the Garden. About 150 people came from all over NE Iowa and I ended up with 41 in my class. I produced a DVD using pictures of my gardens and mosaics and how to combine the two. Then I put together a Power Point Presentation on How to Mosaic a Flower Pot. Everything went very well, and received many wonderful comments.

Even talked with a woman who asked if I would be interested in getting some of my pieces into her garden shop on consignment during her open house this spring!

Another group of Master Gardeners from a town about 1 1/2 hrs away, want to come for a garden tour this summer!

I sold the flag glass block, a couple of cement leaf castings, a mosaic mirror and one of my gazing balls. So all in all, a very good day for networking!

Wow, sounds like you had a very profitable day...selling a few things and making contacts and introducing your fabulous work to others, oh, AND teaching! Professor Becky!

What a good day! Thanks for sharing the pictures. To sell some... and make contacts... and teach... what a GREAT day!
Have you put a 'how to make leaf castings' on a forum anywhere?

I love creating the leaf castings. I have made hundreds and sold or given away almost all of them. Here is a picture of the last group.
(I know..it isn't a mosaic). Maybe next spring I will mosaic them...think it will work? Can't wait for spring so I can make some more. Everyone seems to want one to display in their garden.

Oh, BECKY: These are W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L!!! What is the paint you used? The colors are so vibrant. I see some mosaics in that picture too. Have you shown them to us? I don't think so, so picture up, girlie.

I enjoy doing the leaf castings too. But those are with out a doubt the most beautiful leaf casings I have ever seen.
    You really do fantastic work!

WOW!!! Good for you! What a success!!! And your leaves are gorgeous! Master Gardeners coming to see your garden, WOW!!! I'd have to hand them each a pair of gloves when they arrived and tell them, pull the weeds and you'll find my garden!!!lol! I just love your cardinal bird block!!!

This is another leaf casting I did of a rhubarb leaf. It was so big, I had to pour in in my grandsons giant sandbox! I put this one under my Maple tree where nothing will grow. I think it looks good there!

Slow, you asked about the paint used for my leaf castings.... I use an acrylic craft paint on my leaves and then they are sealed with a masonary sealant. You also mentioned some of the other things in the pictures that were mosaics. Here are a couple of platters I did. And I think the apple one was in the picture....Becky

OHGOODGRIEF!! You are G.O.O.D., girlie. The mosaic saucers are just outstanding, and the leaf - well - I just can't believe how beautiful. Have you made any water features w/leaves like this? I've seen the ones made into birdbaths. This is a real beauty. Your paint jobs are just wonderful. It looks so well done I thought they were stains. BEAUTIFUL work. Seems we've hijacked this thread.
