Birdhouse finished!

I've been working on a small birdhouse for my best friend. She loves the ocean and music, so I named it "Beach Music". Here 'tis.

Yikes, I wonder why my image is so large? Am I taking up valuable space here?

cute, cute, cute.....very adorable and I have two questions...
is that a madrona branch and did you make the door and window from clay and fire/glaze it yourself??

    I love anything beachy!

    Ooooo, very beachy!
Looks like palm fronds on the roof!

That's the sweetest BH I've seen in ages, and pray tell ALL the details. It is just spectacular. Looks so custom-made. The door, the window and window box, the branch, the water, the sand, the flora/fauna, the base, the roof - ALL the details, please. I LOVE THIS!

Thank you, so much! We live in a small town (2700) and there's nowhere but a Walmart within 30 miles to buy supplies. But we have FOUR! great thrift shops nearby in this rural area and GSs where I scavenge for pieces for my loved birdhouses which I just started making this past year.
Except for photograpahy, I've never done anything artistic before, so your upbeat response is happily received! And the education and support I'm getting from all of you will surely help me branch out from here.

No, I WISH I could make porcelain doors and windows, but I actually took a hammer and screw driver and carefully broke the door and window off an GS incense burner. I've found that using pottery (rather than porcelain) is always easier for this rather brutal technique. (grin) You could probably do this with a dremel too. I used a window shutter from the same piece for the window box, as my BFF wanted a burgundy door, and I didn't have one of those.

The wood is manzanita, which is similar to madronna. In certain seasons I find black pieces. (I'm hoping they don't peal) The roof is local shale I pick up on the roadside here in Northern Calif. I love that Cindiloo sees palm fronds too!

Thanks for your fun comments. It really is encouraging when people take time to respond. I'm new to this, and it's really motivating and fun to receive tyour feedback.

    Doin' a happy dance,
    Daisy

I think it is just great. Wish we had a birdhouse exchange and I could get one of your. Maybe you should offer some of the neat wood and stuff indiginous to your area as a swap. We gals in Texas could always swap armadillo scales, bs, and other assorted items associated with Texas! lol

Seriously, I think you have done a very professional job and I would be proud to own it. Great idea of the reuse of doors and windows from TS,

    Keep up the good work!
