LOL. SHRTY, you must've seen it as soon as I put the progress photo in my album. Here's what I've done since the first pic. I'll paint the inside dark blue, as well as the outside of the box. Might add some gold leaf designs to the blue paint or just my crazy painting designs.

What did you use for the arches above Mary?

Tnx, FOX. That is a portion of a plate center. I used part of the same plate center above the cross I made in PV. My DD thought the edges were blue/black. The mirror appears black in the photo. Those are mirror diamond shapes and two different shades of blue. Tile is surrounded w/gold mirror and around the plate shard are small maroon tiles and the gold mirror. Hope they'll all show up w/a cobalt blue background. I might change the jewel at the top - not quite ornate enough. Don't have anything right now better. Might have to go shopping. The two leaves are from KLINGER, part of the stash she brought to PV for our use. I forget that we're supposed to explain what our WIPs are made of.

Oh... the center tile is so lovely. And your work around it just enhances it beautifully! Love the triangles.. pretty color.

I love everything about the box. The colors, the pattern. Never would have guessed the center was cut from a plate.

Slow this is wonderful. I really love it. Its great to see that virgin tile being used. Like how you incorporated the leaves too.It is gonna look wonderful grouted.

Boy, talk about a grouting nightmare!!!!!!!!!! Waiting for it to dry so I can wash the grout off the painted parts. It'll be awhile b/f I made another nightmare like this one. GEESH, what was I THINKING???!!! Oh, Sirius, the tile was one I brought back from PV - just the colored arch above it is a plate shard. Thanks y'all. Anxious to hang this little number. I sorta like it.

Tough to grout. While I know it isn't polite to boast about one's own work, I really like this piece. It's satisfying to recycle an ugly old box into something decorative.

Oh my goodness! I didn't realize that it was inset! You wrote "shadowbox" but my brain didn't get it until the last picture. The grout really ties it together.. and it's awesome, Slow! Beautiful blue, too!

Agree with everything typed here. This is truly an inspirational piece...I love every thing about it. Your ideas just floor me; you just tackle a project and it is done. I too, am in awe of your work. I would love one just like it in my house!

Well thanks again, y'all. BECKY, it is REAL simple to make - just find a box or a drawer, turn it upside down on a piece of large brown craft paper, draw around it, then draw a header for the top, cut it out w/a jig saw, then make a one-inch border on the inside of your side lines and a 1 3/4" border on the inside of your top/bottom lines, w/a drill make a hole inside those lines, then w/your jig saw go into that hole, cut out the hole, leaving the border, then tack your facing onto the box, and viola you have a little shrine - a blank canvas and just do whatever your "art" desires on it. REALLY easy. Thing that took me the longest was cleaning off my garage work table so I could make it. LOL. NT - on the paint job, I meant to give it a weak umber wash and was so anxious to hang it up, I forgot. Thanks y'all.
