So what was the solution to the problem, Charmo? It had to be in the mixing and thickness of the thinset, right?

A lot of us are new to mosaic, and isn't it great to have the resources here to ask questions of? I've made some really good friends here. Everyone is so helpful. Also, I just stumbled into all the videos on stained glass and mosaicing on UTube this week. Oh, my gosh. How fun to be able to watch someone DO some of these things we've thought we'd never learn to do. I'm glad you "got" it! We'll look forward to your pictures!

Daisy, the problem was definitely the tickness. After reading everyone's advice and read some instructions on a website someone gave me and also found a video on you tube, I now do a 3:1 ratio and it's perfect, and what a difference from what I had. No wonder everything was falling off yesterday. Now I only do a little bit at a time and it's great!

The tub of premixed thinset is great and it doesn't dry out. When you are done with a project just put the lid back on...it's more expensive but I like not having to mess with the mixing. Just don't get that stuff called Pro Tile that is white... it cannot be used for outside projects.

Thanks Emtnest, I'll have to try that kind the next time, it would be much easier than having to deal with the powder every time.
