Green fiddle ready for grout.

Just in time for March... the green fiddle shape is finally ready for grout. This is the one I'm making for an April music festival silent auction. Hope to get to it this weekend.

I wasn't sure about the ball chain at first... but think now it's ok. Looking forward to having it finished! :)

Most of the green tile is from a bag of "off-cuts" that I bought from Maryland Mosaics. I liked the color combination.. and was able to use most of them 'as is.' (Which give me NO excuse at ALL for taking so long... but made it fairly easy. :) )

Oh, FIDDLE: That is just too beautiful for words. You did a fantastic job of using those off cuts. I REALLY like them myself. I LOVE the way you've filled in w/the teensy beads and things, and you SURELY enhanced the whole thing by using the ball chain. Someone said the chain could be bought by the yd/ft????? at Lowes, but when I went last week, I could only find the little pkgs and it wasn't cheap. It's also no bargain at HobLob. Where do y'all get it? Since I received a switchplate as a gift from GYPSIE, I've been using BBs to edge more of them as did she. I had been reluctant to use them cuz I thought they'd never make it through grouting, but in four plates, I only lost one, so I really like using them. BEAUTIFUL project, FIDDLE.

Thanks so much Gretch and Slow!
Slow... I've bought ball chain at either Lowes or HD...can't remember... probably both. At our stores... they have it in two places... with the chains..and in the lighting section. Both are small packages but I THINK...that it's cheaper in the lighting section. I've also found some at thrift shops which of course is the best.
Your BBs look great! You have a lot of patience to put them on individually and to get them so evenly spaced! I do like the BBs for how large they are, too. In our area they have the chain in two sizes but not as big as the BBs I don't think.

Just did a quick search. Here is one company... lots more under Google search. I'm glad you asked the question, Slow. I had to buy a lot for that skateboard and the turtles. Would like to find a cheap source.

KATE!!! That fiddle is a masterpc! Gives new meaning to "The Touch of The Master's Hand!" I Love the way you did the ball chain, it is sooo perfect! I've been wanting to get my hands on some ball chain and refuse to buy it anywhere but a TS! (Cheap aren't I?) But I just got a good idea how to get some! I'll go to the local recycle center, they throw those cutain pc away every once in a while and I'll look for the ball chain that way! I so wanna add some to my star tower now!!! This fiddle looks perfect even without grouting! My butterfly was nice enough so I didn't grout it.

That is soooo beautiful! It's the perfect thing for a music festival auction, I'll bet it brings in big bucks! I haven't used chain, but after seeing so many of the things you guys have done with it I've gotta get me some. Great idea Jane, those vertical blinds have lots of chain on them.
