Flower Power WIP

I got on the paisley train like others and am doing a 60's style bright colored paisley and flower piece. Just figuring it out as I go. This is 12x20 on wood. I tried painting some clear glass purple and then cutting it. Didn't work out too well so I painted the wood purple and then put the cut clear glass on top. Also found out Mac Glue is a lot better when it comes to drying clear faster than Weldbond.

Flower Power is right, boy a bad back can't keep you down either!Love the color's and the design is precious.Did you string those little beads again?Do you use only glass beads? It's gonna be wonderful.

Thank you everyone. Yes, I strung the beads again, what a pain. Yes, in this I'm just going to use glass beads. I could get more done, but I'm afraid now my neck has gone way of my back. My husband wants me to go to the acupuncture doctor to see if he can help with the pain. I guess doing mosaic constantly is the only thing that keeps me sane.

    Very 60s Groovy!! Peace .

I'm hoping to see a grouted piece today. Are you there yet??? So sorry you are in pain. Bless your heart. Out of your pain comes beautiful art, and just think of how long it w/last. I'm intrigued w/your technique of painting the background then using clear glass over the painted areas. What kind of clear glass? - they look so professionally cut. I love this piece.

Here is the updated WIP. The paisley's are taking a long time to fill - probably won't grout till the weekend. The clear glass I used was some I got with a load of stained glass from craig's list.

Wonderful colors! I always love watching your WIP pictures... makes it all seem "possible."
    Your work is awesome!!!

Do take care of yourself. Pain is so wearing on the spirit... hope you will get resolution soon. I've heard very good things about acupuncture from friends.
Sending 'be well' thoughts your way.

WOW, sorry I missed your flower power!! I do love those colors. fantastic and HAPPY.

That is the coolest idea of painting wood and then using clear glass. You are SOOOOO imaginative!! And talented!!

And how in the heck did you cut those perfect pieces??? I want to buy the beetle bits system. What do you use??

How is your poor neck and back? I feel for you. Had three epidural's in my neck and back a couple years ago . Acupuncture sounds like a good compromise. I don't see how it can hurt you and maybe it will help. HOpe so.

Pace yourself with this beauty and hopefully by putting yourself into this cheerful flower power, you will start feeling more cheerful and painfree yourself.

Great work. there are so many people on this forum I can aspire to be!!

    I agree, very GROOVY!
    really eye catching.

I'm sorry everyone. I thought I had posted the finished piece.

Mermaid - I don't own a cutter, just lots of experience by hand.

Thanks everyone wishing me well. Back is better, but just can't do yardwork like I used to.

OHMYGOODNESS - this is wonderful! Absolutely LOVE your work. Your designs are so unusual, and your workmanship is just plain perfect.

I love this!!! Where did you get the bright colored glass/tiles? I'm new to this and not sure where to get all of my supplies. But I love bright colors and want to do a design similiar to this with bright colors.

Some of the bright glass is Spectrum - I think it might be the fusible glass. The purple is actually painted onto the wood and I put clear glass over. The little tiles are colorfusion I think from Maryland Mosaics.

    DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!!!!

Oh, my computer's been in for repairs and I hadn't seen this. It's absolutely wonderful! I love the colors! You've taken me to a happy place! I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE it!

OMGOSH!!!! That is GORGEOUS!! I love the bright colors!!
What's the dark pink/reddish in between the paisley made of? Very tactile looking. Thanks for posting!!

What you are seeing between the paisley is the grout made up of mac glue and micro no-hole beads. Also used mac glue and sand as grout in other parts. Using both of those created a huge glue mess to clean off the glass.

GROOVY! This is so bright & absolutely perfect.

that is a neat design. love the colors and the grout gives it a textured look....barb
