Thinset or concrete?

I have a question. My daughter wants a bowling ball all covered cement-like. (no mosaic) It will stay outside. I already filled the holes with thinset and cleaned it and sprayed it with Kilz. Would you cover the ball with layers of thinset or concrete/

I'd go with the concrete, maybe wrap a bit of drywall mesh around the ball to give the concrete something to stick to. You can just do one thicker coat, rather than multiple thin ones. Are you hoping to achieve a smooth or rough finish?
