My work table is 37" high. Perfect for me to sit on a barstool to work. I can cut and glue comfortably!

Thanks for the reply, I think I'd like something similar in height so that I have the option to sit or stand.

Please don't go out of your way to measure your table, just curious if people prefer 'kitchen table' height or 'workbench' height. :)

I measured mine to be the same height as the kitchen counter, I can stand comfortably or I have something a little shorter than a bar stool for sittting, it's perfect either way.

Both my garage and workshop tables are 32" high. I had four old hollow-core doors in the garage, and had my handyman make work tables from them - table top and a shelf underneath. Glass cutting mat w/Morton cutting grid is another hollow-core door across Walmart four-drawer chests - on top of that are concrete blocks holding another narrow hollow-core door. Oh pooh - it's easier to take a picture, but don't be shocked. I seldom organize and it's a total mess.

BUT...having said that, I was watching a video of a glass cutter yesterday, and his table was hip high, which seemed a good height for standing working glass.

For my mosaics, I prefer the counter-height, but thinking that I'll have the DH make a lower working table for my craft room that's more hip-height.

I'm 5'10" tall and I have two heights that I work with. One is just below waist high that I sit at and the other is just above waist high where I stand at. I pretty much do everything sitting except grout.

I have an old craft table I use boxes to adjust the height and make it easy to turn. I was wondering how very sturdy version of a cake decorating thing (like a lazy susan on a pole) would work. PJ

I have an old 50s table I work at I need to sit my back hurts a lot .I have no prob standing and cutting glass when I need to .

I bought a huge table at big lot's perfect height tostand and not bend over and to sit on bar stools,I love this height my table before was regular table height and killed my back ...I vote for taller of course it depends on your height also.I'm 5'7.

Wow, so many helpful responses, thank you. I was afraid it was a stupid question, but my first instinct was to have something a bit higher, until my hubby mentioned maybe it should be lower. Note to self: don't listen to hubby! Seriously, I have a bad lower back too, and don't need to be bending over any more than necessary.

I don't have much money to spend, and will probably either get lucky enough to find something at a garage sale, or will 'make do'. I like your idea of using the old door, slowmedown; gotta be thrifty in my thinking these days.

you asked a great question. made me think that I really don't have a good space yet. I use a table I bought at Target for crafts that I sit down to work, and a potting bench I use to cut the glass. They are okay but so messy i need more counter space to work on.

Slow, I love your workshop , and love that floor!!! Did you paint it?? Stool is adorable . I think the door idea is a great idea. I knew someone that used her door and then two sets of two file cabinets as the base. She had lots of work space and some good storage with the file cabinets.

Even if you find something "suitable" at a YS, it can always be modified by adding small blocks under the legs, or for shorter, lob the legs off altogether. A friend of mine made a coffee table out of a kitchen table by lobbing off all the legs...it came out fabulous.

I am 5'5", and the height that works for me is 35". I do most everything standing till I get tired and haul my stool over...can't believe I sorta forget to sit unless I'm mosaicing...Today Klinger and I went to a lighting store and I saw so many beautiful light shades in stained glass, that I just wanted to come home and do some stained glass!!! I have like half doz lamp bases and "ideas" for shades....been on my "To Do" list for years...
