Mosaics on wood

Hi, I have typically done stained glass on glass mosaics. I wanted to branch out and do some mosaics on wood. I bought a cute little plant stand that has a wood top to it. I would like to mosaic it with broken china. Should I cover the wood with something before mosaicing? What type of glue should I use? Is the process pretty much the same as g o g?

you can use wellbond if indoors or the GE silicone II. i love that stuff. when i did a table in the past, i roughed it up so it would have something to grip.

What they said - Weldbond for indoor, flat surfaces and GEII. If using Weldbond, pour some out in a dish to let it set up a bit cuz the pieces slide on vertical surfaces. I've stopped using GE II except for concave pieces where Weldbond can't touch many of the surfaces. I don't do anything to the wood - just start gluing.
