I've heard they are the exact same book!!
I guess they just updated the cover and title.

Here is a copy of a review for "Making Concrete Garden Ornaments"

"Another book by the same author titled CREATING WITH CONCRETE. Both books are identical, page for page--only the titles are different. So don't do what I did and avidly run out and buy that book too thinking it's new info...It's identical!

I have the second one you listed and I love it. When I "Looked inside" the first one on the Amazon site, the projects appeared to be different than the book I have, but I could be remembering wrong. Someone reviewed the second book and said that the first one is good for beginners and the second one is good for advanced projects, so I have a tough time believing that these are the same book. The beginning instructions are probably the same, but the projects appear to be different.

Does your library have them so you can know for sure? I imagine it would be easy to send them back if you don't like them. Have you checked the Barnes & Noble site to see if there are any reviews there?

I just ordered both books and sadly they are the same word for word and picture for picture...very disappointed ..I am sad that this artist allowed this .Buy only one I tell you they are the same.

I'm very confused. I have both those books in my hand right now from the library. Making Concrete Garden Ornaments says it was originally published as Creating with Concrete. The copy I have has copyright 2001. Creative Concrete Ornaments for the Garden: Making.... is first edition, copyright 2005. I haven't read them word for word but from what I see: They have some of the same section headings but different descriptions, topics, words in those sections. I'm sure some of the techniques, materials are the same but they would be. The newer book has more choices of concrete mixes. Most importantly to me, they have different projects. Even the birdbaths and troughs which are in both are different. Another example, Making...has those great carved pots while creative has simple bowls as a project. Hope this helps and hopefully you can find them in a library.

Yep, I just lost the message I typed, but I was totally confused too. I had a feeling she might have written several books with similar names, and maybe one of them had been reprinted and name changed...
I am going to go ahead and buy the newest book and then see if I can order the other one from the library.

I just got an e-mail from Sherri,after the first book was published the publishing company was sold and it was reprinted with a different cover un beknown to her.Here is what she say's about the books.They looked the same inside to me.

I'm sorry that happened. I do have two books out but just after the first book was published (with the Little Lady fountain on the cover) Lark Publishing was sold to Sterling Publishing. They changed the book cover (with carved planters made by Elder Jones) and title and reissued it in soft back...something I only discovered months after it had occurred. I do state that on my web sight, but I don't know where you purchased the books. The second book has a cast concrete leaf on the cover and is hardback. There is some similar information contained, but the information is greatly updated and new designers and projects.

I'm sorry for the confusion, but didn't have anything to do with the reissue. If you ever make it to one of my workshops, I will gladly trade you the duplicate book for the newer one.

I have both books (hardcover with the little lady fountain & second the cast concrete leaf) and they definately are my favorites! I have used both books for many references and learned so much from each one.

Also, I met Sherri last year at the SAMA conference and asked her sign my books which she was thrilled to do. She is a marvelous woman and I am in awe of her work.

I would definately recommend buying them both:
1. Creating with Concrete (Yard Art, Sculpture & Garden Projects)
2. Creative Concrete Ornaments for the Garden (Making Pots, Planters, Birdbaths, Sculpture & More)
