Thanks, all. Carolann, this is a Fifth Grade project. My two granddaughters who go to that school are in Second and Fourth and they helped mosaic the butterfly and install it. But the tiles around the edge of the circle are all Fifth Graders.

Crackpotannie, the circle in the middle is just a concrete circle that is indented a little lower than the surrounding concrete. I mounted the butterfly and the blue background on mesh (about 12 separate pieces) and then took the pieces over to the school and spread mortar on the concrete circle and then pressed the mesh pieces into the mortar, sorta like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. Then I went back the next day and grouted the circle (the butterfly and the blue tile around it). Then I went back a third and final time (today) and sealed it. I am so tickled to contribute this little bit of their butterfly garden. The gentleman who designed the entire garden and requested the Monarch butterfly is a dad with three little ones in the school, Grades 1, 3, and 5. I've been told that he has a terminal illness and will just have time to see the garden finished before he passes on.

Incredibly beautiful. I LOVE all the bright colors and the monarch itself. You must be so proud to be a part of this. I bet for years to come the students , teachers and parents will be talking about it and thinking about recreating it at their next school or home.

OHMYGOODNESS. What a wonderful project, and your butterfly and the tiles - well - I have no words to express my admiration. Your contribution to this wonderful garden is superb. WHAT AN ARTIST. So sad about the creator of the garden design. Hurts my heart.

How sad,but his children can go and stand in the garden and feel their dad there for the rest of their time in school .Wonderful for you to be a part of it.
