Doesn't look upside down. I would try to match the white to the sky. This has a lot of creams and if you were to use a pure white...it might look a little odd.

What if you framed the mural in the same wood as the cabinets and then used blue tiles for the backsplash? Then you would limit your color scheme somewhat. I love the mural!!!! I am slowly transitioning my home to a Spanish / Mediterranean feel.

Try a cream or biscuit colored backsplash. White will not work with the mural.

I like the idea of framing it with wood too. The mural's being placed over a sink and I want it to feel like a window where there is none.

I think it would be better surrounded by tile. I'd go for a bullnose tile in a color from the mural.

They do bullnose in each color. I'm thinking the maple would look nice, but the green is fun too. The maple gives me the window frame feel. My problem with the cream backsplash is that "Mexican White" is too green/yellow in bright light. "Blanco Puro" is the same tile in bright white. I haven't found anything in the same material between those colors. Is there a tile maker you know of who makes a bigger variety?

Maybe you just need to change the backsplash field tile to the green and do the bullnose in one of the other colors.

Thanks, I'll test it. I was afraid a colored backsplash would look like the '70s. I grew up with olive appliances and shag carpet (which we raked). Maybe I need to let go of the paranoia.

Then maybe you need to rethink the mural and go for a whole different look that doesn't lock you into a set of colors. Something more neutral.

What about framing the mural - whether with wood or tile - and then the back splash is something entirely different like the copper tins or something like that? Those have a Mediterranean feel to them. Or even glass tiles.

One thing you can do - go to the photos section, click on kitchen, then click on Mediterranean. Then in the search box at the top, type in: tile mural. You will get a lot of examples of this in professionally designed kitchens. I think this will help you decide!
