Please, please, please - could you give in detail blow by blow of the construction pretty please. I want to learn how to do this. Visiting MIL in July & want to make a lighthouse for her. Please include any mundane details for someone who has never attended a rheana class. I looks like you are using a wider mesh than what the others have used - lathe stuff? And is the Styrofoam staying or is that just to get your form?

That is coming out so GREAT!! Love the toothpicks in Yoda's head. I can not WAIT to see how you manage to do his face in the chicken wire - that is a difficult task and I don't envy that part of the project. You got a lotta guts there! And concreting his little hands?? Yikes! I had so much trouble getting the cement in the holes on the bench to stay put. No one said it'd be that difficult! Ya'll make it look so easy!!!

This mesh is a fine mesh like window screens are made of, except thicker. I started with a drinking cup Yoda head, that has a hole on top so thus the hood(have the toothpicks just to hold it in place) Will not be doing anything with the Yoda Head, was going to leav it as is...but maybe cast a cement head with it??(Klinger...Help!!!) The styrofoam is too square, am debating on carving it or eliminating it...not decided...this mesh is the cat's meow for plyability!!! Fashioned a little cane, his hands have 3 fingers(only one hand made so far) hmm, if I cast the head, then I may keep the foam and carve it, I am thinking of a thin coat of mortar built in layers(slurry?) by a paintbrush for the body...with some fiberglass mesh pcs added for strength. Just a mad experiment...bwhahahaha!!!! I just noticed that my son's pic(with Ted the Crow on his shoulder!) is in the background of 1st pic! lol! Yoda looks kinda creepy with the staples around his neck,(to hold his head in place for now) and his big gaping hole in his head!! CREEPY!!! FrankenYoda!!

So Calam - you can fold this mesh & then put some stitches in it to keep the shape?? You want it to hold it's shape correct? I agree the Styrofoam is a bit square but rounded off would be perfect for Yoda.

Your son is going to love this. Does he know you are making this for him or are you surprising him with this piece. Either way he is going to love it.
