Found it!

I've been thinking, and reading, and looking for just the right thing to get me rolling and I think I found it. Went to a garage sale this a.m. and found this metal sailboat wall piece for $3.00. I hope that it's not too big a project for start... but I just have a wonderful picture in my mind of what it will be like 'one day' and plan to work on each section as a goal. :) Also... I'm hoping that the bumps and curves of the metal form will not be too much of a problem. I don't have in mind a flat surface anyway... and expect to use mostly glass type tiles. Let me know what you think... and all ideas for glue, colors, anything at ALL are welcome! I'm very new to this. Just had to share it. http://www.flickr.com/gp/66748613@N00/os70b1

How cute is that!!! You've got quite a project ahead, one that you will LOVE every minute of, I bet! Can hardly wait to see the WIP's of it!

Wow, looks like a great project. Shouldn't be too bad if you lay it on it's side to do. Glue - Well, GE II silicone, of course.

I concur with Maria, I would use GEll and if you cut your tesserae 1/2" or smaller, you should easily overcome the curvature. Can't wait to see it develop!

Love it! Reminds me of the pineapple I found.

Also anyone else notice the Freudian slip?

Oh my... I REALLY didn't mean to do that! :)
My hubby used to sail a lot and we have several sailboat pictures on the living room walls. I hope that this will turn out well... will probably put it on the screened porch.
Thanks so much to everyone for the encouragement! I'm really excited about it!!! Will head out for the GE II silicone glue tomorrow morning.
