mosaicwench, good price. Where are you able to get it for that price? I figured it would be cheaper where you could walk in but online I hadn't found cheaper than what I paid. bamasusanna, how much did you pay for your order?

I get it at my local True Value hardware store.

Dick Blick is 26.08 for 1 gal (64 oz) shipping is 7.95.
I've never seen anything larger than the 1 gal jug.

Not to be found where I live, I ordered directly from Weldbond USA - there's a minimum, so I broke mine into 2 - one gal. jugs and 12 - 12oz. bottles. I can re-fill the bottles from the jugs. The order, including postage was $75.00. For those who have to order, why pay the middleman - go direct. For those in TX, the headquarters is in Jacksonville. Link follows.

I am amazed that Weldbond is not carried at more stores. Why? HD, Lowes, nor Michaels carries it. I know of one old fashioned hardware store that carries it but it's 2 hours away.

What are you all using Weldbond for? I thought most of you were using GE II exclusively (or thinset). I have been trying to use it for more mosaics just to avoid the fumes from GE II and E6000, but when I'm in a hurry and don't want to wait for Weldbond to dry over 48 hours I revert to these cancer-causing adhesives and pray.

I prefer to use Weldbond. That's the only adhesive I had used until I came to this forum and heard about GEII. The only problem I've had with weldbond was a birdhouse I did for outside. I believe that was my fault because I didn't seal the wood before I began, and I didn't use a sealer after either.
I've always used Weldbond for my stepping stones. I haven't had any problems with it. I know it rehydrates in water, so I use a sealer to keep water from ever penetrating to that level. I've always lived in areas with mild winters, so maybe that's a factor as to how well they've help up.
I tried GEII on my last stone just because of all the talk about not using welbond for outside items. I didn't like the mess or the smell. It may have dried faster, but that isn't as important to me.
For me, Weldbond is my favorite adhesive.

I use it for anything inside that is flat because to me it is so much easier to work with. I've not had a problem with it drying. I use GEII when it is a vertical surface and on the stepping stones I've been doing I used the thinset because it seemed to be the general consensus here that it was best for outside.

From what I've read the longer that Weldbond dries, the harder it gets so that's why I let it dry longer.

Lilym, as I said I have been experimenting using Weldbond for multiple projects. Recently I did 2 watering cans (vertical surface) and this is what worked for me:
1) roughen the surface with 0000 Steelwool (this just takes off the shiny surface)
2) cover the surface TBM with a layer of Weldbond and let dry
3) start mosaicing and put Weldbond on each piece of glass 4) dry for 48 hours
5) grout
6) seal.
