Wow, and those were your first trys with the ring saw? The turtle looks perfect and I love the glass you used, it looks like a real turtle shell. And the glass blobs are cool too.

I seem to have trouble coming up with ideas, but I would think you might want to make the fill a bit larger pieces so you don't have to use so much grout.
Otherwise, I think it will be a really cool BB. How come I never find those things when i go to garage or treasure stores??

Adding the blue to the gray sounds like it will be perfect.

Great start. I agree with Merm, fill the gaps. You really don't want a lot of grout in between. But I'm also borderline fanatic about having the thinest spaces between tiles. lol

I love that mottled glass you used for the turtle. I'd fill in everything also. Really nice.

That is so cute! The glass you picked is great.
You might get less grout cracking if you added more blue.
I found mortor works best in birdbaths too. That is an adorable project!

Great turtle,haven't taken my ring saw out of the box and I've had it 6 mo,scared to try it I guess.I would definitely fill in more ,you'll like it a lot better if you do.Beautiful piece.

Thanks guys! More fill it is. I'm gonna try to work on that today...altho, I did have a light bulb moment on a box I want to do and am now excited about that! AADD not a good thing to have if ya wanna get stuff finished, lol!

DAISY: I don't know what the glass for the back is called. I just went to my local stained glass lady and said I was looking for something that looked like turtle shell. I ended up with a pretty big piece of it, so guess there are more turtles in my future!

ANNIE: Do you have the Taurus? Just watch the DVD and you'll be laughing so hard and no longer afraid of the saw! Seriously, I'm more wary of my grinder than the saw!

The mottled glass that you used is probably Uroboros glass. It comes in all different colors, really beautiful stuff.

Beautiful turtle! Looks so real. I'd want to fill in more as well. I'm one of those who likes to get things as close as possible to make very small grout lines. Can't wait to see this project completely finished.

It reminds me that I promised to make my daughter a birdbath...guess I should try and get started on that soon.

Oh, boy - you really did a great job on the turtle, and congrats on using the ring saw. I seldom use mine, but it sure comes in handy on curves and shaped things, such as heart shapes. Like everyone else said - fill, fill, fill.

OK...I changed the fill...probably could have put more in...I did add blue to the gray grout, but it still looks just gray...AND I used tile lab's glossy grout sealer for that blingy shine!
