Welcome, PURPLELURCHER: Don't remember you posting before, but glad you've joined us. I looked for a long time for inspirations too, and wrote many artists on advice regarding mosaicing my walkway, but finally gave up and just mosaiced my own designs. Perhaps what you are looking for doesn't exist until you create it. Do you have any ideas of what you'd like it to look like? Have you made any sketches? What other mosaics have you done - experienced, beginner? Help us out here. IMO, I wouldn't want a solid glass walk - would be too slippery. That's why I used mixed media - a nice tooth to walk on. Welcome again, and hope you get inspired on this forum to begin your masterpiece walkway.

Well after seeing the snake last year on the Junk side, and yesterday again from CALAM's reference, I was a little embarrassed at my meager attempt, but hey, I was brand new to mosaics, didn't have a clue what to do, so I'm still a little proud of the work - not so much the design that is still a WIP. Thanks for asking, DIAMOND.

Yep, just brushed it off and plunked down the Mapei and away I went. I had put it off for months cuz everyone I talked to about it said DON'T DO IT. Haven't been sorry a day - it's not slippery at all, cuz of the different textures. Hope to add one more design up at the steps soon, then IF I can still get up and down, I'll do some kind of background - perhaps some small snakes - leaving a little of the concrete bare.

I am a trained artist and working writer.
I have about 4 mosaics on the go and want to concentrate my work on outside installation pieces.

"Mo Ringey" http://www.fridgequeen.com/ is one of my favorite glass artists. I think she is incredibly brave. So is "Ellen Blakeley" http://www.ellenblakeley.com . They work with tempered safety glass, found objects and solvents.

Welcome to our playground. I know all those sites except the last one. I REALLY like how she bordered her path. The design is nice too. Can you show us your WIPs? Anxious to see your work.

slow.., I had looked at you walk some time ago, when I wasnt even into mosaics. I was so amazed at that beautiful walk and I still am. It sure held up remarkably well.

slow- I have always loved the walkway..I went through your album again the other day looking for it...silly me I should of just asked you to post a new picture of it!! I did have a great time re-looking at all your awe-inspiring work! Thank you for posting the picture of it. I can't wait to get to do ours!!!!

FYI- just so you all know...my DH put moss/weed killer on the lawn and the two steps he has made out of concrete got some on it and he did not know..it turned the areas rust colored..artistically it could be cool if we did it right I guess but if you get it on something you have already done you may be UN-pleasantely surprised!!! He tried to wash it off (this was a day later) and it is on there for good!

Thank you, ladies. I like it too, and hope to get another design on soon. I also have to do the little path to the swing patio I messed up last fall. I loved JOY's and CAIT's paths so much I had to invent a place for one, but messed up royally. I especially liked JOY's idea of mosaicing the holes in her driveway. What's the status of that project, JOY? I can fix my path, if the rain w/EVER let up. That's very interesting, CHICKEE, about the weed killer stains on the walk. Good way to be artistic if you should want to pursue that further.
