need ideas!!!!

ok so i have finished the little rocking chair and was thinking of working on my stepping stones next but i want my daughter to help me do them i think it would be a nice mother/daughter project for us well first off what is the best thing to use as a mold release i had heard vaseline from someone at hubbys work but wasnt sure and i dont want to end up with a mess so iknew someone here would know. also i was wanting to make a mold to simulate the look of the flat stones that you use for waterfalls i figured if i could make some of them myself to help save some money and use the natural ones to do the surface id still get the same look.

mine is going to be nine in 2 weeks and thanks to me she is so into the art of creation she already does scrapbooking we did an album together for our dogs it turned out so cut now she wants to do one for the cat lol and when i was working on the rocking chair which of course used o be hers she was wanting to help so bad so i let her help with some of the glass globs it turned out pretty good not perfect but that wasnt the point and we had a blast getting muddy while grouting it I finished all the little detail stuff thiss morning while she was at school so she will be surprised to see her crepe myrtle sitting in it when she gets home ill post pics asap

Good ideas. It is SOOOOOO important to do art things w/your children, cuz they don't get enough art lessons in school anymore. The bonding and teaching them to discover their artistic skills is such an enriching experience for both mother/child. Congratulations on both. Anxious to see pictures of the chair. Also anxious to see your first fake rocks. On the release, I've used the store brand of PAM - cooking spray. Worked fine.

I made a few stepping stones a few months ago and we did use vaseline. It worked very well. Glad to hear that Pam also works. You are creating a very special bond with your daughter by teaching her crafts; that's just wonderful.

thank you for the advice and the praise is always nice as i type she keeps popping up on my IM from across the room at the desktop we're debating who loves who the most i have quicker fingers so currently im winning LOL but yes i love finding ways to spend time with her as a SAHM I am able to have oppurtunities some moms dont have and for that i am greatful sure we could have a bigger house if i worked and a pool would be great but there isnt enough material wealth that can compare to the time I have had with her which is why i want another one so badly ok im getting all mushy LOL

I've heard cooking spray works but not tried it yet. Dh had a spray silicone that was the bees knees for this!

Hmmm...I have this image in my mind of a bee on its knees pushing the cement out of the mold...LOL
