I would mosaic the outline of the shutters in the same blue as the walls or in the accent colors of the room, and use the tiny beads without holes in them to accent the scrolls etc. just enough to make it sparkle. Great find. It is so pretty. Dena

I agree w/JASPER, but w/go a step further and mosaic the whole frame. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PIECE!!! This is great piece for part mosaic/part paint.

I'd do all the flat "frame" parts. The whole frame, and frame the shutters. Hope that makes sense

I'm with Maria, I'd do ALL the flat parts :) Except the recessed frame directly around the scrolls. Yes, that's what I'd do :)

That is a pretty piece. I can't tell what size it is. If the shutters actually open, I think a mirror behind it would be nice also.

It's about 2.5' by 3' and the shutters do open. My girls want a poster behind it...lol...but I think I may talk them into a mirror.

I'm with Maria, too.....all the flat parts and then consider doing a crackle finish here and there to mimic it being a very old "found" piece.

Can't wait to see what you decide to do with it!

I am not sure if I should use glass on this (i have some pretty pinks, aquas and blues) or look for some dishes/china. I've never done anything shabby chic, but this piece seems to be calling for it. I dunno.

I agree w/ you lisa, it says shabby chic to me too. You can mix in a little glass. My all time fav is iridized
pink.
