A quick newbie question about glass. I've bought a little bit of stained glass from the craft store... and have read about breaking bottles... tumbling and using it successfully. However... will a regular drinking glass work well if I tumble it? I found a very pretty bright aqua drinking glass at the thrift shop that I'd like to use on the sailboat... and the price was right! It has a thick base but is thin on the sides. Will this work? Or will the side pieces be too thin? Thanks for your help.

Tumbling bottles, I am told, w/take longer than tumbling regular stained glass, but I wouldn't hesitate to use the glass from them or the drinking glass w/o tumbling. I just started tumbling my glass recently. Sometimes when I'm too anxious to glue, I don't tumble, but for my bathroom counter I did. However, I'm having to nip a piece here and there to fit, and it's NOT gonna be tumbled. I've used a pretty blue, very thin, drinking glass in a project. As long as you cut the pieces fairly small, and keep the curve to the inside, why not? It opens up more possibilities in color, doesn't it? Go for it.
