LOL There has been a change of plans. The rest of her bustier is going to be the same apple green as the front. I had to go over the flesh grout with a little more of the flesh paint because when it started getting dry it was too light. I sort of did a fast dry brush and wipe off.Much better now.

So Bustier is all that is left to grout. Not sure I can do it tonight. I am pooped out. But then it is only a little bit left. LOL Maybe if I lay down for a little while and just rest my back I can keep going. There will still be a lot of scraping silicone smudges. Rubbing the grout on and off helped that part bunches but still more xacto knife to deal with.

I will put pictures up on the refugee site since I do not want GW to copy write her. Just her I want for myself. They can do whatever with any of my other pictures. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Last night I laid down to rest and woke up after 1:00AM. No I was not going to grout her then. LOL So did it early this morning.

Maria, thanks!! I can not wait to get back to her so I can finally say she is DONE!! This has been a long project. Mostly because I was so freaked about grouting her. And knock on wood all of this so far done and no cuts. Thank You Lord!! I do have one sore finger from rubbing grout into and out of cracks just wore the skin away. LOL DOH!!

The design and colors of the bustier are fantasitc - both front and back. And I love your placement of the tesserae on the flesh parts - it's perfect!!

On the front - in the middle - the tesserae that is surrounded by the beautiful green - is that glass or something else - looks like there's a pattern on it? Can you give us a close up of that area?

Just FYI, you don't give away copyright by posting here, they just acquire ALL rights to use it anyway they want to (FOREVER) - which is almost as bad.

If you link to another site such as flicker or yahoo or wherever, they can't claim those rights because that site is YOURS.

Did I say I'm amazed at your work? It is stunning. Your attention to the width of grout lines shows true brilliance. It's what sets apart a nice mosaic and a GREAT mosaic.

Oh, how absolutely wonderful. I sooooooo wish I had the patience to pay that extra attention WENCH mentioned - grout lines. Truly, this is a fabulous mosaic job. EVERYTHING about it is so stunning. I don't even DREAM of being that good, cuz I know it'll never happen - I don't even strive for that kind of perfection. You really are a true artist.

I am not an attorney, nor have I ever played one. Having said that, a lot of you know that I am heavily into photography, so you might imagine that I have a big interest in image copyright. I've been involved in a couple of photography forums since 2003 and this topic comes up *all* the time. Often the topic involves one website/forum/gallery or another with statements similar to the one Ms. Wench has posted in the past. It's insane that they word things this way, but they do and people still use their services, so nothing gets changed.

I strongly believe that they do this to cover their collective butts regarding all of the pictures posted in their forums. The ongoing scenario is likely this: someone sees a cool photo of something in a thread. This person proceeds to download the photo, then uploads it to their personal website or even another forum as an example. Then the original photographer gets wind of their photo popping up somewhere, then proceeds to sue the pants off of the thief and the company hosting the stolen image.

The down'n dirty of it is that there is no way that a photo of mine, posted over here from my hosting company's server, could legally be used in any way for promotional purposes by the company who owns the GardenWeb forums. That would make them the thief.... and if I had the resources, could pursue the matter in a court of law. They might be able to get away with it if people were actually uploading photos to GardenWeb-owned servers. They'd still have a fight on their hands if someone disputed their rights to use someone else's photos without a specific contract, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Their disclaimer might be enough to cover them.

The bigger issue is that pretty much anyone can come along and lift your image and use it however they want. Chances are you will never even know about it. The upshot is that if you never ever want this to happen, just don't publish to the web. Period. I've thought long and hard about this and have decided that the fun I have in sharing is far outweighed by the possibility that some little weenie is going to steal from me. Everyone has to make their own choice.

Chris, we've got a ton of newbies posting here lately and I am sure they are feeling really left out right about now. The "refugee" forum is for everyone, so I am going to start a new thread with some links. If you want to remove your photo, you can... but I am hoping you won't. Your mannequin is just gorgeous. I can't even imagine having the kind of skill you've shown us here.

Hi Every one. Finally getting back. I can not believe how a few pounds of poodle kicked my hiney so bad today. I swear the smaller they are the harder they are to do. Pictures to follow if they turned out. LOL

Thanks for the sweet comments.I am not sure I understand the grout line info. I thought they looked sort of loose and I did try to make them close. I read they are not supposed to run or create grout rivers. How does a person not do that when doing say the curves on her bottom??

I REALLY had fun with her and hope I can get better pictures than the ones shown. Going to have to play around with it since it wipes out the grout colors here. Her legs look all smudged but they are not in person.

The pieces in her front middle in the green glass is vintage china plate rim pieces and Yes I will get a close up for you. I used the same around her hips to the back too. I would love to get more of this.

When I get her all buffed up and her rose and thong added I will call her done for now. I do have further plans to take that spray painted purple dresser that I will someday glass and add a tall lamp center rod but make it in a back corner. The rod will be tall enough to let a lamp shade hang above her and shine down on her with a pretty shade. Thinking fringe here. LOL There are two holes in her legs and I will drill top of dresser and glue in wooden dowels to fit her holes so she is stable but can be removed. Add the lamp fixings and I will have a HUGE table lamp. LOL I need a lamp where she will live in my office.

LOL My little darlings today. Well I wish they were mine.

Choco is the little apricot one and he is 9 weeks old. Frisky is the black one and he is 5 months old. Choco about 2 pounds. Frisky about 4 pounds maybe. LOL YES Choco's top knot is a little off but I had to trim it backwards to me since he had to lean against and not face me to work on him. Most of the time he was snuggled under my chin or trying to get in my shirt pocket. I did not know he was as young as he is. I think I would have asked them to wait another couple of weeks at least. {{!gwi}}{{!gwi}}

I added her center front to the other page. I already cleaned up what I saw in the picture as grout mess. Comes right off as it is really thin. Just use my dental pick and I have a lot of it to do. Hope there is a good movie on tonight??

I will leave her pictures on the refugee site. And again as far as the other things I am working on I will post here. It is just she is so special to me. Later I will write up the REAL story behind her and her name. She is the story of my life in an odd sort of way. She is my catharsis. Letting go of the sad times. If someone lifts her from the web then oh well. I just sort of resent GW and their disclaimer. I do understand now as you explained it to be more of a protection for them and not that they will be using her as they please.

I was considering entering her in the Delphi glass contest. Not that I would even dream she might win but it might be fun if her picture got in the catalog. I read it that even non winners might be chosen for the catalog.So there if that were to happen she would really be out there but it would be my choice.

Actually if some one tried to copy her it would be a compliment and I doubt any one could do her exact. They would probably do a better job of it.She is just too varied. Finding all the exact china and all. But if some one wants more close ups to help them work through parts of her I will be happy to post them. I know we all sort of got into mannequin mania for awhile.

I am so sorry TMG is having to go through her friends health issues. I wanted so much to talk to her about grouting when I finally got ready. I know she had issues with her mannequin grouting. I was so freaked about doing it as you can see I put it off until the last minute almost. It really was not all that bad to do and I even complicated it for myself by using four grout colors. I learned a lot from her.

Now I am off to scrape silicone and then bed.

Chris, I am so glad you decided to leave your pictures up-- this piece is just wonderful. I can totally understand how special she is to you, even without knowing the story of your life and the sadness you mentioned. I also understand your resentment of GW's disclaimer-- it's just dumb, but I also understand how they'd have a need to protect themselves. I really feel they should change their wording, but they probably have attorneys who told them what to say. Whatever. ;-)

TMG did have trouble with her grouting, but if I remember correctly, it was the pearls that gave her the biggest fits. I think I remember her finally coming up with the idea of doing a really thin grout and it just sort of all worked out.

You did a great job of it -- I am so proud of you!!

She and YOU are just amazing!!! I thought you were a seamstress, but you are a dog groomer!! I groom my 6lb yorkie/maltese by my 2 finger rule, I squeeze the hair between my two fingers and cut anything above the fingertops!lol! Pretty choppy but for some reason I like cutting her hair myself, maybe cuz I didn't get to cut my barbie's hair when I was a child...heh heh! My DD says I remove any dignity she(Marby the dog) ever once had! DD and DS have their campaign against my dog grooming> they call it "Stop the Hurtbaggery!!"
Anyhoo, the lamp idea is totally Over The Top wonderous!!!!

Aw Thanks Again. You all are so kind. Still working on cleaning her up from silicone. Wish I had not made such a mess of it. I am glad I had experience cleaning teeth when I worked for the veterinarian. Lots of practice with the tooth scaler. I even had hubby sharpening it at 11:30 last night.:^))

I decided to give my hands a break and started working on her rhinestone thong. Going well on that one. Guess I should not say it will crack you all up?? Well I just said it so slap me. Heheheh Can you tell staying up until 2AM this morning working on her has done wonders for my sanity. NOT

One thing I have learned from her is.................

Even though she is hard bodied if I press too hard rubbing or scraping I can make her flex. So anyone that got the softer mannequins need to do something to make them stiff or I think the tiles might pop off.

I think I am going to make the deadline. Hoping to finish her by tomorrow and get pictures the next day. That will be a trick since hubby is not very patient with the camera. Might be able to get a girlfriend over. I have her back side done/cleaned so I can glue the rose soon and her thong as soon as I finish putting it together. I only have a little more to do on that. An easy deal for a change. What I had in mind did not work.

Another thing I learned is to be flexible.

Oh and Clamity my real job is cemetery sexton and secretary . I do the dog grooming sort of for fun now.

SHADES: Since the flesh is sooooooooo life-like, may I ask if you used clear glass or did you use flesh-colored glass. I've never seen flesh glass, is why I asked, and I have a couple mannequins I might live long enough to do.

The glass was sort of a flesh color but it mostly is the mannequin color showing through. I thought I was going to run out and tried to buy some more and it was way too orange. I know the gal I got the glass from for her flesh said it was bulls eye.She just happened to have it from someone else when a church stained glass window got broken. Some of it has tiny bubbles in it and she said it was hand rolled. I am just repeating what she told me because I do not have a clue what she was talking about. I was lucky to have enough in the end.

I did her thong last night and will add pictures shortly. Almost ready to add her rose. I must work in the yard this morning and then I will get the rose attached. Hubby said he would try to help with pictures so I also have to try to do something with my hair. Wish I did not have to be in the picture to enter her. I really am not looking to win this at all. OK I will go get a picture. I am liking the thong even if it was not as planned. As it turns out the rhinestones were bought on a trip to the first meeting with my birth father about 10 years ago. Considering his personality I feel the rhinestones are landing in a fitting area. I am SOOOOOOO bad but again it is all just part of the story. And the mentioned necklace of my Grandmothers. It was his mothers necklaces and she told me HER SON did not do those things at his age,15 years old, and that he could not possibly be my father. But you see a DNA of 99.42% likely hood of him being my father is close enough for me. Not to mention when we were both 18 we looked exactly alike. Well as much as a female can look like a male. AH This whole thing has been fun. Hehehehehe

I MUST dash. Trying to juggle all these things at once. I am already tired and have not even lifted the shovel yet.
