It should be okay to just use the way it is if it is only going to be inside, unless it gets very humid. I use clear nail polish, but will be doing my dragonfly wings with mirror and so was thinking of spray clear coat. It's about getting the edges resealed after you cut the glass cuz the mirror backing is exposed and vulnerable to flaking off due to moisture.
