Welcome Cindy to the best forum ever!!!! Like you, my first mosaic project was a bowling ball too. You did a fantastic job on it, I love the colors and I think the stand would look good mosaiced...maybe using the blue from the flowers????

Well you certainly came out w/a flourish! It's BEAUTIFUL. Welcome to the addiction and this forum. You're gonna fit right in. You did a great job on your first project. If you already have a million projects lined up, just WAIT until you REALLY start mosaicing. Your list w/grow daily, and with each project. So glad you joined us. Whatcha gonna do next?

I'm impressed...for as long as I've been stashing supplies and breaking up things and getting it all piled up..I have yet to do a bb...I have many of them and have one with a design all over it but I never have gotten it done.
I sat on the floor at my dd's house one time and started on one tiny area of the bb but that's as far as it ever got..
now I may just have to pull it out of hiding and work on it again..
the one you made is very pretty and is going to be a fine focal point, where ever you set it.
thanks for pictures..yes, we're all visual creatures around this place.
and sometimes one picture can get a fire going, for the bit of encouragement needed to pick up where one left off...namely me!

WELCOME CINDY!!! Your BB is identical to my first BB, design wise, that's the design I did too!!!! And mine has held up for 5yrs!! I'm so glad you came outta lurkdom!!!

Welcome to our cult, er, I mean our forum. It's nice to have another kindred spirit. I started with BB's too. You did a fabulous job on yours. Love it! You even did great finding the stand. If you thought that was fun, just wait until you find out the joy of BREAKING STUFF!!

It's easy to feel intimidated 'cause of the talent here, but if you've been lurking you will notice no one ever says anything unless it's positive. That's been my experience anyway. If you ever have time go back and read the old threads. Some of the pics are gone, but the info. on products and experiences and disasters is very entertaining and extremely helpful to a newbie.

Wow, thanks for the compliments and the warm welcome! You guys are great and I'm so excited to finally be participating in this crazy forum:)

I've been having computer problems all day, it keeps kicking me out every time I'm halfway through typing my response. this will be my 4th and final attempt to respond tonight...grrrrrr.

Barb - I have some blue mirror tiles I was thinking of using on the stand. I'll have to play around with it a little and see what I can come up with. As for the other bowling ball, I want to wait until I have a little more experience and then I'm going to attempt to do one with tiles, plates, etc.

Slow - The addiction sure comes on quick does't it? Right now I'm in "hunt and gather" mode, lol. My husband has been really helpful with the search for supplies and is excited to see what I'm gonna do with it all. I have no tools and no pretty glass, but I have my GEII, a hammer and lots of stuff to smash up! I'm not sure what my next project will be, but I'm itchin to start bustin stuff up! I got some fabulous deals, I'll have to post pics of my new treaures.

Becky - I looked through the old posts and found your bowling ball pics. It's a beautiful design and I can see that you put a lot of thought into it. I can't wait to see the end result! I do hope that you finish it, I would love to see it.

Jane - Yeah, I thought we could use another Canadian here....about the sane part..hmmm...well, we'll have to work on that. Besides, I think that sanity is seriously over-rated, lol. I'd love to see a pic of your twin BB, I couldn't find it in the old posts. By the way, the info on my page is really outdated. We just recently move to Barrie, ON which is about 45 minutes north of Toronto. Thanks for the reminder, I'll have to get in there and bring it up to date.

Sunshine - That's exactly what I was afraid of, lol. That nobody would say anything. Wouldn't that be horrible? I know from reading all the old post how encouraging everyone here is and that that would never happen but I have to admit it took a little nudge from DH to get me to take pics and post.

Nice - I'm sure I'll post so many pics and questions that you'll be sick of me soon enough, lol. I'll try to behave myself for Jane's sake;)

Hrsg - Spent so much time trying to get the puter fixed that I had no time to play. Now it's already time to sleep again. Ah well, tomorrow's another day

Thanks so much! Styrofoam coated with cement? That sounds really cool, I'd be very interested in seeing it. Would sure be easier than trying to find bowling balls.

I did end up mosaicing the base of the stand, but I left the curlicues as is. I started another thread for it with pics.
