here's it's a soaking rain and doing all plants a world of good. Everything is very lush and soppy wet..I love it!

I'm headed to a town south of me, in about an hour, to a new doctor and will check in here, later tonight.

Well, Klinger made ME stand out on the road with this sign, and boy I saw a lot of smiling faces and thumbs up, and honks!!! Then Squirrelly came along and sheesh, she musta saw the sign cuz she pulled right over!!! heh heh! We had a great time getting to know her, I had to bow out about 5pm, but she is a POWER Shopper like us!! I'm sooo proud!!! It was fun taking her to some of our fav haunts!!! We played with the glass saw and the tile saw, cutting bottles, cups, tile in half. She brought us presents too!!! We got spoiled!!! Got some pics on the way, just too tired right now, was such a fun day tho!!!

Reporting in, we had a fabulous ,exhausting couple of days. Squirrely and I watched Jane cut stuff with her new tile saw and her glass saw. She cut a miniature bottle in half with her tile saw, a tea cup went in half, and the bottom of a bottle. It didn't make elegant little cuts, it has a pretty big blade. Worked like a charm. A couple of times Shirley and I had to look the other way, we didn't want to watch Janie cut her fingers off, they seemed so close to the blade, Aughhhh.She made some very cool wiggly cuts on her glass saw, boy are the options endless with that. We had some absolute down pours here and there but we didn't let it stop our fun. We went to a fabulous garden filled with art, some mosaics, concrete, rusted metal, beautiful place.Squirrelly and I got some cool beaded tassels there. We went to the stained glass shop and got some gorgeous irridescent glass. Jane got some glass blobs, glass and it was great fun. Shopped at many thrift stores, went to a little town with murals and Victorian style boldly painted quaint homes.Squirrely was going to go home last night but the ferry was pretty booked up so she had to stay another night . I'm off to work today so she stayed with Jane, don't know if she was leaving first thing or hanging out longer. I think she was pretty tired. She brought us a gorgeous ceramic froggie for our garden, and some wonderful glacial clay skin products from where she works. She also brought us a big bag full of awesome glass nuggets which are more oval shaped, just perfect for flower petals in mosaics.It was a fab time and we hope maybe it was the beginning of an annual event.
I did make Jane hold her sign, and I waited at the side of the road, we got there and she handed it to me and pointed out toward the highway, and I just was not in my comfort zone, so she grabbed it, marched out there and waved at every one, it's lucky Shirley didn't keep going when she saw us, hehe.

Oh, Cindy, that sounds like y'all had so much fun. Did you wear a hat and shades so that people wouldn't recognize you along the ferry road?! Wish I coulda been there. Maybe another time. BUT we can hopefully do some equally cool things here in TX next year for the Mosaic Convention 2008, eh? Jane and her tools! She should have made a video for us all.hmmmmmm

Janie,when I cut a wine bottle bottom off it broke all uneven ..did you just cut all the way thru or keep turning bottle a little at a time?You girls have a ball and get in as much trouble as you can...or should i say have as much FUN as you can...Same thing Oh Well!Annie

Squirrelly is so sweet and fun!!! I can't stand it!!! We dragged her everywhere we could think of!! What a lil' trooper! Yup, Cindy had her one night and I had her for a night! 48hrs just isn't enough!!! Here is a pic of the 8 bags of nuggets, some are those nice oblong ones! and the cute frog she brought for me, I forgot to grab the spa goodies, cuz I'm already using them!! I might even give Cindy her 8 bags too, she left them here, how trusting..silly girl!!!heh heh!
So Anybody else who wants to catch a ferry and bring me gifts and let me shop all day and then take me out for me dinner, well hey, you just give me a call!!!!! I'm available!!!

You guys are just too much fun! Boy, do you guys know how to shop!! I had the best time but was pooped out (had to have a 2hr nap) The ferry suddenly turned around and started heading back to Nanaimo! Apparently, someone on another boat had fallen overboard and our ferry was going to rescue him! It was all very exciting but a tugboat plucked him out of the water and we turned around and continued on our way, so it was a longer trip home.
Had the best time, loved all the neat places we went to and would love to come back and do it again. The Island is a very artsy interesting place and you girls are THE BEST tour guides!!! Thank You!!!

Oh man, does this ever make me want to come visit! I was in Nanaimo in Feb 1998, visiting DH's relatives there, then we spent a few days in Victoria, then a few days in Tacoma. We lived in western NY at the time, flew from Toronto to Vancouver, took the ferry to the island. It was the best vacation we have ever had as far as I'm concerned! I would LOVE to do that again, and see some other places/people around there now!
