My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

mosaic on toilet

Well, gals, I've finally gotten the gumption to post...and soon I will load up an album with pics of my attempts of mosaics over the years. I've actually read posts here since the beginning of the forum, having first lurked for years at garden junk...I'm a terrible "finisher" of things, but a great collector and starter of projects and supplies. I have long greatly admired many of the works here, and often encourage my sister and friends to look at things posted here.

So, onto my question: a friend (no really, a friend!) has had a toilet in her yard, planted up with various things, and the plan is for us to mosaic it. My concern is whether we need to prep the surface of the toilet tank and bowl to get better adherence of the mastic/adhesive for the tesserae - we'll be using pique assiette - broken tiles, plates, found objects, etc. for the mosaic...Any advice? or just start slathering on the GEII or mastic??

    WELCOME to the forum!! So glad you finally decided to jump in - we really don't bite.....well, most of us anyway. ALL of us bite off more than we can chew quite often tho! Can't wait to see all the marvels you have been hiding from us!! We LOVE pics ( as if you didn't already know that!)

    Oh. Mosaicwench did one not too long ago. I'm not sure what she used for adhesive though. Hopefully she'll chime in!

    I used lots of Silicone (GE II).

    Best of luck mosaicing it - it's a fun project

    Thanks for the welcomes - I know from all that I've read and seen of you folks that you are a warm and amazingly creative group. I appreciate MosaicWench's comments, because it was when I showed my friend the recent posting of that gorgeous tank that spurred her into saying, "yeah, let's do this!" So, I'm encouraged that we don't need to do anything more fancy than lots of silicone! (and maybe a little blue tape to hold things vertically in areas). Anyway, I finally set up a flickr.com album (seriously, I think it's the management of the photo's that's kept me from posting all along...)I'll see if I can link it...

    thanks again, looking forward to chatting more. And, soon, I hope, posting a completed toilet!!

    Great stuff there, litlbit! I really like the planter. Your flowers are beautiful. I also gandered at your real flowers as I am also a gardener. Nice roses!!

    NICE WORK!!! Welcome litlbit! I really love that you do the auction donations - I'm partial to doing that too! and it gives me an excuse to make something! LOL

    I am ROFL over the mosaiced toilet! Love this idea! Can't wait to see it! I never got that Wench's planter was a toilet tank. Ya'll are awesome! Welcome Litlbit, you have fabulous pics and obviously lots of talent. Great photography! I am waiting anxiously to see your toilet!
