OK y'all. You're gonna LOVE this. You know the little round thing on top that you use to grind your glass??? Underneath it all there's a disk, rough - diamond. Look at the book, take off all the top stuff - open the little drain so the water in the tray drips down on the disk. That disk is for grinding. You can do 90, 30 and 40 degree grinding. All I did was nip a plate, put the footer on the grinder and lo, in just a second or two or three, it was G.O.N.E. The footer was gone. I was so shocked and amazed at the speed. If ONLY I had time or energy to play, I would have gotten the wet saw out, cut up a plate into tiles, and used the grinder to put them into shape. This way, one can use the WHOLE plate and have VERY flat tiles. It's AMAZING.

Okay. See the little wheel on top - that's what we use to lay a piece of glass on the grid and grind into shape. I took the grid and other covers off to expose the grinding disk. The little tray on top - see the little lifter thingy, that's what you lift up to let the water from that tray drip onto the disk while it's grinding. You're talking about the fastest grinder I've ever seen. My Diamond Max has just a fold out page of instructions, and I'd never read past the grinding on top of the grid. Oh, I'm so excited I can't WAIT to use this thing again.

Darn, I wish I had known about this a couple of months ago before my kids got me the All Star for Mother's Day.

Guess I'll have to look into the disks for DH's Dremel.

OH MAN SWEET GRINDER!!! I have the plain jane Inland. Poo. That's the cat's meow! I'm gonna try this with my tile saw as I've had great success with the bottle cutting.

LADY - all I have to do is take those two pieces that make the bevels off to uncover the disk. What a beauty I have and just discovered it.

I have the same grinder! It's called the Diamond Max 2 in 1 grinder. I use it on my dichroic glass jewelry. I pretty much leave the bevel part off too. Slow, did you know you can get different grit grinding discs for it? I think there's one finer & one coarser than the one that came with it. The thing I don't like about it is the little "gate" type thing that lets water drip on the disc part. It's very hard to control the rate of flow, & on mine it drips even when it's completely closed. So when I'm using the post grinder part the reservoir slowly empties when I don't want it to. I'm thinking of siliconing over those 2 little holes & rigging up something else to drip water on the disc part. Anyway, I bought mine online at Tracy's stained glass, was the best price I found. I thought of the same thing, GIN, cuz the tray empties too fast. I figure you can put a hole in a plastic water bottle and somehow attach it to the side of the grinder. We think along the same lines. My gate doesn't leak but when using the disk, it just goes too fast. I can't BELIEVE how fast this grit grinds off a plate footer! Seconds and it's flat as a pancake. I just don't have time now to play w/it. What w/housework, yardwork and my bro's pedestal, I have no time to play for myself. Finished gluing the pedestal today and w/hopefully grout tomorrow. Don't like it - anxious to get the other one to do a better designing job.
