I just called a glass co..to see if they have their grab bags of misc glass..no, not at this time but they do have prepackaged bags of mosaic glass...hummmm
gotta go see what that's all about.
they have classes and when there's left over glass pieces, they bag them up and sell them cheaper than to go and choose some regular stained glass..

I'm so dammmmed new to this concept, I haven't got a clue.

Pre-packaged bags of tesserae are VERY expensive. Compare: I pay from 7, 8 to 9 dollars for a sheet of glass. If you want 3/4" tiles - from one sheet of 12" glass you get 256. For 1" tiles - 144 for 1/2" - 576. How many do you get in those little pkgs. for half the price of a sheet of glass?

well, the lady at the glass store was less than helpful..
she said the glass is from $7 to $50 for a sheet of 12" glass..they don't do mosaics, so she couldn't help me there, at all..she said I would need to come in and see to decide what I wanted.
I couldn't get an answer from her, like you said so many per 12" sq..but she wouldn't commit to an answer for that.

I think I need to rethink going in there..there are other places around for sure.

for now, $10 of it is going towards a box of industrial size plastic bags, for bagging up excess clothes around the house

I'm in the middle of purging things and I gotta do it, while I'm in a frame of mind to get it done, or I will never get a foot hold on the clearing out of things...
it's a bugaboo for me and the worst part of decluttering.

I wish I could be on the 'mission organization' program, so they come in and make a beautiful area for the owners.

Becky I wish you lived close to me cause I love, love, love to organize and I know I could get you organized!!!!! Purging is the first step to organizing so you are heading in the right direction. You have to clear out your unwanted stuff first so keep it going, don't lose steam now, think of the end product, being able to locate what you need when you want it and not have to hunt around looking for it!

I know the saying.."less is more"
and when there's too much to find what you have and you have to go buy it again, then it becomes "more is more costly"

I have a hard time grasping the concept of the organization programs...
they purge to the point of minimal, then they come in and build the best shelves, cabinets, files and closets, to put everything away...but by that time, everything has been purged and given away, so there's hardly anything left...

so, why don't they just box it all up, build the storage areas and put it all away, organized, without getting rid of it..lol

but no matter...there's so much that I have that all of my best intentions will never be finished, so it's a matter of eliminating what ever is in the way of the favorite things to do..
mosaic supplies, yarns and paints.....that's more than enough
and the broken dishes are all within reach now..home from storage and just sitting there..."open, open, open"..

You could always use it to hop a ferry and get over here and I'd give ya all the glass ya want.....I'm not above bribing you to get ya over here!lol! Crafty: I am so jealous of people who can organize! I have been really pathetic with that all my life, and it has only been in the last few years that I've been changing! I even sit there watching organizing shows to motivate myself, and now it's getting easier! Sheesh, if you don't grow up with these skills it is very hard. But I am sure loving the feeling of a finished tidy!
Sea: Get your craft room set up and it'll feel soooo great to have one! I'm no painter and I even painted mine a funky color and it's my fav room in the house!! And I'm worth it! Sheesh, I feel empowered now!!

Jane, I'm not sure why I am so organized, certainly didn't pick it up from my mom, she is a packrat and I find it SO HARD to go visit her...and see clutter everywhere...makes me want to start "tidying" up for her! Funny thing is, growing up, every Saturday we had to clean house, I'm the middle of 5, 4 girls and a boy and we had to clean our room (all the girls in 1 room) and either clean the bathroom, dining room or kitchen. Once we married and moved out, her clutter started creeping in. LOL
My family thinks I clean my house all the time and they don't believe me when I say I hardly clean, maybe every 3 or 4 weeks I'll vacuum and dust...if you don't have clutter sitting around then the house APPEARS to be clean, even if it isn't. I'd rather spend my time mosaicing and checking out this forum!

Been there! Crafty Lady doesn't have ANYTHING laying around. Very nice! No PILES anywhere!! And She's closest to me,so I get first dibs on her organizing skills!!

Just one question Barb, how do you control the other (in my case) 4 people's clutter??

Well ladies, let me tell you some of my secrets...before my DH and I got married his mother did EVERYTHING for him, made all his meals, snacks, etc...I mean the man couldn't even pour himself a glass of milk...his mom would shoo him away and do it for him. He would take his dirty clothes off to shower and by the time he was done his mom had already picked all of them up and she was waiting to take care of his wet towel. Well, the first time he showered after we were married and left his stuff all over the bed and floor I informed him that I was his wife, not mother, and I would NOT be picking up after him. If he wanted to have someone pick up after him, he could move back home with his mom. It worked, he's never left wet towels or dirty clothes laying around. LOL

As far as kids go, it's a lot easier to train them when they are little. Our last house was a ranch and since I would pass by their rooms all the time they had to keep them neat. My DD would complain all the time when she was young that she couldn't wait until she moved out so she could keep her mess out all over the place. She did keep her locker at school messy. When she moved to the dorm and had a messy roommate she discovered that she really did like having things neat and clutter-free! My DS was a little harder to train though...so I allowed him to have a "junk" drawer in his room and maybe 2 or 3 times a year I would make him clean it out. Now we live in a colonial and once I wake up in the morning, shower and dress I don't see their rooms cause I'm on the main floor or in the basement so a mess wouldn't bother me now but I have them trained so well that they still keep things neat and clutter free!!!! Sneaky huh?

Sorry, it is harder for you Maria because they are already set in their ways, it will be hard to make them see the light and start keeping things clean!

WHAT I CAN DO FOR SOMEONE IS....take pics of your mess and post it to photobucket or something like that, then send an e-mail to me with your link, and I will take a look at them and make some suggestions about how you could organize it.

**sigh** Barb, I guess I'm stuck. Got it to the point that the Kitchen (sometimes) Living room and family room are somewhat clutter free!I'm guilty too when I'm tired or in a hurry. I guess it doesn't bother me enough to take time away from other things I want to do
