That is a tiny photo! I think we need to know more about what you mean by "contemporary." Do you mean simply more current, or do you want it to look, for lack of a better term, "modern?"

From what I can tell it looks like a pickled/limed finish set that is probably about 15-25 years old. I think it would still fit in fine in a Florida/beach-style home, especially if you like those lighter woods. But a darker stain would probably make it more "current."

Sorry about the photo. Actually it's only about 5 years old. Basically, I'm tired of the light wood and want to warm up the space with darker wood. Can't afford to buy new so I'd like to use what I have.
