There is nuthin' wrong with the grout choice and I LOVE that elf dude, very cute and original!!! Way to go!!!

11 - GEESH. Already a mosaic artist! Give her a BIG hug from SLOW. That is a very nice piece. I recognize the red ripple glass from HobLob??? Love that glass. Just bought some more of it. She's very talented, and the grout is just right!

Very cute little elf guy! Did your DD do the whole thing including the flowers and mushrooms? I think it's very nice and I like the grout color, too. Great job!

And I agree with the others who have responded - I LIKE the grout color! I fell in love with black grout, and used it for many pieces, but recently have been using some lighter grouts - and really like them, too!

Thanks everyone...she drew the elf pattern and i cut out all the pieces for her, of course. he was actually a lot cuter, but i had to modify it for the sake of cutting it out withouth losing my sanity. lol
the mushrooms were also hers and all the pebbles. she glued most everything on...except i helped with the yellow background.
the grout is looking better now that it's drying...this was a second grout...first was grey...even worse...lol

Eleven years old? Wow, great job! The pot came out great

My 23 year old (as of yesterday, the 14th) DD is always wanting to craft but she gets so frustrated when she doesn't get perfect results. I keep telling her that my projects aren't always perfect, I've had a lot of practice and the more you do it the easier it gets. A few weeks ago she needed to finish a quilt she started (last summer for a new baby) and she wanted me to help with it (you know, kind of finish it for her for his 1st birthday) Uhh, uhh, I'm busy doing mosaics right now, not quilting. I cleared off an area for her to work, pointed her to it and got her busy working on it herself and about 12 hours of sewing time later, she finished it herself! I always knew she could do it by herself, she just doesn't have faith in her crafting abilities (I'm always telling her, you're my DD, it's in your genes) She wasn't happy with it pointing out all her mistakes and I tried explaining to her that no one was going to be looking at it that closely so they won't notice her stitching isn't perfect but she didn't believe me. When she gave it to the family she made it for, the mom cried when she opened it up, and they complemented her so much on it she is actually inspired enough to try her hand at MOSAICS!!!!! We bought a little birdhouse and some zebra beads yesterday and I have pink, black & white tiles she can use so we will see if she follows through with it or not. If she does, I'll post pics (Smile)
