I cut backerboard w/a utility knife. It takes several times to score and break it. Cutting a circle won't be as easy, but it can be done. Draw your circle, score w/a sharp utility knife. However, there are blades for most any saw for cutting cement. When you cut it, wear a mask. IMO, you don't need to do anything w/the edges, cuz as you say, it's cement.

Hey Alison, Klinger just lent me two awesome books about cement and mosaicing(that she might not get back,heh heh), and in it it says to use a saw blade for tile or cut it yourself. I do know there are different thicknesses too of cement board, and what about glass? Yuou could get a pc cut to fit or scrounge one at a thrift store, it could sit on top and overhang...you better post a pick of this table so we can help you more!!!hee hee! Jane
