yes, I've found a couple of sellers that I've ordered from and been really happy with my things..one was a rare piece of red sea glass, in a necklace,with wire and a couple of other pieces of translucent glass put together into the necklace.

the other one was a small piece of artwork...
I think I learned about the site from garden junk forum, sometime, earlier this year.

you could spend literally hours, just browsing through the different catagories...

Hrsg, how did you like selling on Etsy? I've been thinking about it for my fused glass jewelry, but I can't find info anywhere on there how to collect sales tax from in state customers.

Oops, I just figured it out via paypal. Anyway, I just applied for my FL tax ID #, will take a week to get that. Then I can set up a paypal merchant account & etsy shop. I'm still struggling with a name!

I liked it very much. It is a unique venue for artists of all kinds.

It as with any selling venture is all what you make it. If you invest time, effort and energy you will see return for your investment.

Watch the successful sellers there, and you will see that is what makes them good. And their work of course!

One in particular I recommend to check her shop is lis. She is very successful in glass.

I didn't find a seller by the name of lis on Etsy, I did find a liskidder, is that who you mean? Well I've taken the first step to selling my stuff online, applying for my tax ID # so I can collect sales tax on in state sales. I worry that there's already a lot of dichroic glass jewelry on Etsy. I finally decided on a name "Fused Light" & then I found out there's a glass artist already using that name. What do you all think about "Fused Sunshine" or "Fused Sunlight" since I'm in FL? Are those totally cheesy? Help! LOL.

Low Bridge is very good, but my favorite mosaic artist on their would have to be Ingrid. She uses metal in her mosaics and I love every piece she makes!

Oh thanks for all the name suggestions, keep 'em coming! RT, I'm not selling mosaics, rather fused glass jewelry. I've posted pics a couple of times, I promise I'll post some more soon. Etsy is the "place to buy & sell all things handmade". I need a FL tax ID# so I can collect sales tax from anyone in FL that buys from me. I don't have to worry about it for out of state purchases. I'm not sure everyone on Etsy or Ebay bothers with this, but I don't mess around with dept. of revenue! I believe here in FL I'll have to report & pay the collected sales tax quarterly. Other states may vary. Having a tax ID # will also allow me to buy supplies tax free. The Etsy store seems pretty easy to set up. I've gotta get good pictures of all my pieces & come up with a name first!

I just use my SS# for tax purposes ( selling on ebay) - even for the state tax.I forgot at what point you need a Tax ID#. It does allow, as gin-gin said for you to buy supplies tax free. There is a point that you need one for federal, too. I think it's more of an issue if you are setting up a corporation rather than a single -owner business

I'm talking sales tax here. That's what I needed the tax ID # for. I could not find out on the FL dept. of revenue website anything about just using my SS# for this. As far as INCOME tax, we have no state income tax in FL. For federal income tax I think I can just file on my personal income tax. Believe me, there isn't going to be much income from this! I'll be lucky if I can cover the cost of supplies! :o)

I understand which tax, gin. Probably MI and FL just handle it differently. Maybe because you don't have income tax ( we sure do!!).

Really, On Ebay, in my GOOD years, I only owed the state $1-2 (6% here). Most of my sales were out of state.

Yeah Maria, I know what you mean. I'm quite sure I'm not going to be collecting much, if any money for the good old state of FL. Don't worry our outrageous property tax rates and skyrocketing homeowners insurance (IF you can even get it) more than make up for our lack of state income tax! Ah but that's completely of topic. lol.
