I had difficulty also. You have to really stretch the plastic in order to slip them on. Don't give up. S-T-R-E-T-C-H IT. BTW from where did you order your replacement tips. It really bugged me to have them come in a box about 5"X5" packed w/brown paper, at a hefty postage charge, when they could have been sent in a letter-sized envelope. I ordered two sets. Hope I can find the second set when I'm ready for them. I tend to lose things.

Thanks slow...I have been trying the stretch method and ended up slicing one of the sides,
hence my frustration.
Luckily I bought 2 sets also. I'll heat them up a little and try stretching again.
I had my DH pickup some stuff at Delphi while dropping off my eldest at State.
It's right down the road from his dorm. Never mail-ordered from Delphi before, so not sure
how overdone their packaging is. Hope you find your other set :o)

I have pliers that really need the jaws replaced. It's just one of those things I don't think about until I'm complaining about how crappy they work!
I think the heat would help. Let em sit in the sun a while.

I've wondered how good that dip is that you can buy at the hardware store to dip handles of tools in to re-grip them...just wondering out loud...

Hey...now THAT'S an idea.
Why wouldn't it work? Then when it's worn you can just peel
it all off and re-dip them.
These stupid plastic tips don't last very long anyway
so after I've gone through the set I have I may give your idea a try.

The heating thing got me thinking about when the kiddos
were young and had to have those moldable mouthguards for
sports. You had to soak the plastic in almost boiling water for a couple of minutes, then mold them to their teeth.
I did the hot water thing and it worked like a charm.

CALAM, that's a brilliant idea - gonna try that when these two sets are gone. These tips really make a difference when they're new, and they surely don't last long.

am I the only one sitting here wondering if I should actually LOOK at my pliers and see how worn out they are?

I knew mine were a goner when they stopped snapping
the glass and started crunching it. Horrible sound.
Looked and saw that both covers had been worn to metal.
Maybe it was the 5000 little 1/4" squares I've been snapping, my fingers feel about the same way.

Our local instructor has been dipping for years but dips often!
Just put the new tips in a baggie to keep them dry and warm them up. I was asked the brand of my runners when I bought my new tips, I guess there are different types.

My cousin does the dipping and has for years. I've never seen her do it but I've seen her pliers and they work!

Yeah, NT, I'm thinking I better look at mine. I use them everyday but don't inspect them.
