Mosaic hopeful!!

I have attached, not a real good pic, it was taken by my aunt when I was busy

measuring and forwarded to me, of my hopeful mosaic project. I have shared my idea with slow and concrete and they have both been very helpful with advise.

It's too hot right now to get started, but I am "composing" ideas in my head. There will be a total of 4....16"x16" and 4..... 8"x16" and 6 ....12"x12"stepping stones done individually at home and then set upon the concrete foundation that I have already had poured. The hole on the left hand side will have a rose planted in it this fall. Each stone I would like to create a scene, so to speak, depicting their lives. Some of the things I would like to incorporate are: a tractor, a cat, a dog, rose, a quilt square, fishing, chicken and rooster. And by my newborn sister, maybe an angel and a cross as she died at birth. The concrete base is approximately 9 feet long and 36' wide.

I am very open to any and all suggestions. I hope this will become a reality and not just a dream!

There's no reason you can't do this. Don't let fear rob you of beginning this wonderful project. You'll be sooooooo proud of it when you finish. If you don't want to make the stepping stones, you could easily mosaic on screen, and apply directly to the foundation. Sounds like such a wonderful idea. You can DO this!

I want to know where you live .That looks just like our cemetery.I know most of them look a like .but when I saw the pic man!!! I am wanting to do the same thing only for a flower bed .

What are you going to use for tess? Do your winters get very cold?

Hopefully I will be able to use mostly stained glass. After I start purchasing all that glass and my pockets start getting empty I may have to look for other sources. I live in Texas, where we are currently having over 100+ degree days. We generally have a couple good freezes and snow is very rare. Hoping if I seal it good, and maybe apply sealer yearly it will last a good many years. The cemetery doesn't have water, so I can't very easily attached directly to the cement that is there. I figure if this project goes bad one day it can be easily removed being it will be on stepping stones and the cement foundation will still be there. One more question I hope someone can help me with. I have a disc blade from my dads tractor that I would like to attach to one of the stones and then mosaic around it. Being it's iron or metal or whatever disc are made of, what would be the best product to use to attach it to the cement?

I'd sink it into a thick bed of thinset so it smushes up all around it and into the holes.

Wow, another Texan. What part of Texas? Looks sort of flat and a lot greener than San Antonio so must be more northeast of here.

Actually the cemetery is in Wharton. That's about mid way between Houston and Victoria, The guys that poured the foundation for me also leveled the ground. Hope the grass grows back soon as we get some rain.

Well I got the "east" part right, but Wharton is a little south of here. I'll keep checking for progress and pics. It's going to be a nice project.
