SUPER job on both. I LOVE the way you've put the tiles on the diagnol for both pieces. The direction you laid the tiles around the eyes on the owl, fish face and fins is great, and I especially like the colors on the fish and the color change in his middle. Wonderful mosaicing, KEL.

Those are cute! Oh I love the oranges and reds on the fish! The owl looks great too. Did you use the tiles with gold streaks? I love those.

LOVE 'EM! I just finished a vase today that I did totally on the diagonal! Very small pieces. Pain in the butt! It was worth the effort. I think the same about your two pieces. Your color choices are fabulous! Love the red eyes on the owl! Have you thought about black grout. I THINK it would look good on the fish, not sure about the owl though.

I love them both! The owl is so whimsical and the fish looks like it could swim away at any second! Really, really like the colours that you used on the fish.

Thank you SLOW, B3BBI, SUN-FUN!! You all are sweet! I didn't realize doing something on the diagonal wasn't a normal practice. For the fish I wanted them to look more like gills, of course. For the owl, I knew I would be using the same colors over and over (I didn't show a pic of his behind) so I laid them diagonally to make it appear to be texture (feathers) and break up some of the monotony (sp).
I like the red, too. I realized I didn't have anything terribly outlandish and flashy. Enter a red fish. Plus it has been fun to experiment with the different finishes of tile that are the same color, or at least same color family.
D3BBI- Some of the browns had golden streaks. Very pretty.
Sunshine- I'm thinking black on the fish, too. The owl is another story...
SLOW- Coming from the rooster-master, your compliments are like a little hug!

Cindy- I think you posted as I was being long-winded with my follow-up! Thank you!! I got the owl from Lowes and whimsical was the EXACT word I used to describe him. You know what they say about great minds....LOL. I think the fish will go to school with me and sit in the window and be bright when winter sets in and its all yucky outside!

Beautiful job Kelly,love them both and you did a great job.Are the tails on the fish iridecent red or orange? I've been hunting iridized glass here but can only find black,green.purple...I want orange! You're fish would be great in your window.Annie

Kelly... I love that you put in the before pictures because MY... WHAT a difference your mosaic has made! Love the bright fish and the glass varieties within the same color that you mentioned. The owl is GREAT! I just wouldn't have thought to use the long horizontal pieces at the base... clever! It adds a nice, different texture for it. They both look great!

Annie- Those are irridesent red. I'm pretty sure my Hobby Lobby has the orange. Maybe?
Bama- I probably need to make him a mouse! He'd love it! That is Smokey Joe Mittens. He is the most dog-like cat you would ever meet. So is his daughter, Princess Fu Fu Mittens, aka, Fufie. That are both Tonkinese.
Shrty- Smokey takes credit for plants, other pets, mosaics, supper, etc. etc. He's a riot!
Jane- I actually have been accused of being a Dr. Doolittle a few times! Dogs, cats, turtles, degus, Oh my!
Kate- I'd seen a few others put the before and after shots and I just always liked it! Sometimes you forget what things look like after a poject was started.
