Oh Hazie could you make it any prettier!!!! It is so nice. I love it. I have yet to do a shabby chic anything...not sure if I ever will. Those bb's around the edge of the focal point on the tea pot made all the difference. I just love them! Is shabby chic always grouted white? Actually this may be a very DUMB question but I'm gonna ask it any how. What makes shabby chic, "shabby chic"?????

I think it's going to be my mom's Christmas gift.
She gave me the tea set to play with.....so now she gets it back! My daughter wants me to take it to the gallery to sell. But with them taking 40%, I'd rather give it as a gift.

It took almost every piece in the set to come up with that little bit of floral pattern I needed. Wish plates/bowls went further. 15 pieces for that little area,
seems nuts!

Romantic floral patterns is shabby chic to me. I think it's always grouted white or antique white. It's always so elegant looking to me. That style doesn't fit into my decor, but I sure love to look at it!

Hubby got home with some bb's!!!YES!!
Hopefully I'll be grouting tomorrow. It's been a while since I finished something in a week. So excited!

Shabby Chic is my absolute favorite style, and yours is really beautiful! Love your plates, and forgive me if I have missed earlier posts on BB's, but what are they??? Are they little beads? They do set off the focal on that piece! Glad you shared! Jennie

jennie...the bb's I'm talking about are the bb's used for bb guns. I used them on my first tea/coffee set, because I couldn't find anything metal to go with the pot to add to it. So bb's are becoming my tea pot thing. I've used them on all 3 now! I hate working with them. They are hard to glue on with tweezers, and always fall off during grouting.

I wish we lived closer too Nice! I about went nuts today not being able to finish this thing up. But I'm about 20 pink pieces away now!

Well it's 2AM, and I got it finished and grouted!
I think with the chill in the air the mosaic bug has bit me again! I spent my whole day on this and cutting and tumbling
several sheets of glass. I'm back and it feels soooo good!

Your set is totally stunning! I do nothing but Shabby Chic, so maybe I can answer Chickee's question, and yes Shabby Chic should be white grout, almost always. While you can dye the grout gently in pastel, you have to be careful because (I've said this before on another thread), you can drown your palette of roses and florals, which if cut from plates, are almost always cut from a white or ivory plate, in which case white grout enhances it!

Shabby is elegant as is Hazie's stunning set. I think Hazie did a beautiful job!

Sorry I'm a little late but had to comment on your tea set. It's just soooo pretty, your mosaics are always so perfectly done, it's gorgeous!! I love the use of BB's it really adds a nice touch with the silver.

Hazie I say Stunning too!!! I just love it. I do my shabby grout in pastel colors and sometimes more than one color on the same piece. I try to keep it very light. I think shabby is all about pastel or nicely washed out colors. I think Mangomoon is right the grout should be white but I am approaching 60 and starting to understand why old ladies use so many bright colors. ROFL Slapping my knee. Heheheheh

My hubby nixed my mosaicing our guest bath counter so I PAINTED it white. I have a coffee pot holding flowers on the counter. I think it needs to be covered in flowers this winter. Thanks for the inspiration.

That does it - I'm gonna do a SC on my next project. 'course it won't be THIS pretty. Thanks for this, HAZIE - I like it so much and it's just the right time. Gotta work outside for a couple weeks before starting, but I'm gonna try to copy this concept on a pitcher and bowl my DD wants done. Your work is truly magnificient.

Bama...They constantly have to be adjusted till the glue
dries, they like to slide around. They have to be
grouted carefully too. I always seem to lose at
least one in the grouting.

Well, you l'il heifer! There, I said it again. Hope I don't get bumped off this forum by some of the newbies who don't know that's NOT a negative term - it's southern for "I'm impressed" or something comparable, but I want you to know I started nipping apart plates w/little roses on them last evening, and just about every hr. through the night, I was trying to figure out how I'm going to lay them on this bowl/pitcher. It was your set that threw me over the line to try a SC.

The finished set is truly beautiful! So BB's are just BB's! They do look big, I was thinking that BB's were about the size of those little silver balls that you use decorating Christmas Cookies! Have you ever tried to set them into the grout instead of glueing first? I guess the grout would have to be mixed pretty soft. Anyway, I love the set! I want to be on your Christmas list too! Jennie

Hubby said the bb's I'm using are used for sling shots, because they are a little bigger. I was afraid those really little ones would be lost in the grout. I don't think just grout would hold them in place.
