We are considering this exact range and I am wondering how it performs-pros and cons?

Thank you for the information! I will pass this along to our architects. We really think it will be a great range. I also like the red color :)

We've had ours for 6 months now and LOVE it! We had the 6 burner cooktop in the old house and hubby wanted the range in this house. We also have the island trim kit, but don't have an issue with condensation. It cooks like a dream and just did a massive amount of cookie baking today for the holidays in record time thanks to its size and the convection. We've loved our BlueStar products!

Do you find your oven door gets too hot when its on? Garden forum users complain about this and I have small kids so I'm afraid of burns- and also extra heat in my kitchen to compete with AC.

Hi April, I haven't noticed a problem with the oven door being to hot at all. It's a narrow space and we have an 8 year old who loves to sit in front of it to watch cookies bake. I know some other brands have issues with that but so far, no trouble.

We have a 36" Blue Star range like the one pictured and we love it. I haven't noticed the door getting hot at all, and I use the oven a lot. We've had it nearly 3 years now.

    What is an island trim?

It is the piece that closes eliminates the gap between the back of the range and counter and allows the oven to vent.
It can be a flat piece, about 4" tall, adding a backsplash aspect or up to 21" tall - all depends on the brand.

I have a 36" Platinum. It works fantastic. Only complaint is 1200cfm BS range hood is insufficient when grilling on the side burners. IT MUST BE CENTER MOUNTED. Other than that it's been a dream.

We have had our 36" Blue Star for 5 years and we love it. Haven't noticed the door getting hot when the oven is in use. The first year we had it, we hosted Thanksgiving and we roasted a turkey and a goose in it, side-by-side. It came with the metal vent backsplash and the hood is Vent-A-Hood.

Ours is red and I love the splash of color. This photo was taken before the glass doors were installed on our upper cabinets.

Hi - We have three young children and have gotten mixed feedback on whether the oven feels hot on the outside. What's been your experience?

I haven't noticed the oven feeling hot on the outside. I love this range but I don't have young children any more. I notice in the comments above that I've already answered this question and so have several other people who also say they've never noticed it getting hot. I think if it's not vented properly at the back you can have hot air coming out just below the oven door.

I just checked, set the oven at 375, and it got fairly warm just above the bottom of the door, but not hot enough to burn someone. And now I think mine is not vented properly because there is no heat coming out of the back vent, above the burners at the back. .
