OT - I'm back

got home last night about midnight, after driving 17 hours. I won't bore you with the details of my trip but I ended up finding a personal care home for my 87 year old dad (never mind that 5 of my siblings live close to him). I took 3 books with me but never opened any. Spent my time running around taking care of his business and could only call BEVINPA on the last day (she wasn't home!) SORRY BEV! So glad to be home with my cyber buddies!

Welcome back Rosemarythyme. Sorry your siblings do not help care for, and make decisions about your dad. He is lucky to have you!

When my parents were moving into their senior citizen apartment, my 3 sisters & brother left it up to me to help them pack, using the excuse it was because I'm so organized. It was very stressful because my mom wasn't really ready to give the house but she knew because of my dad's failing health it was the right move to make. She is a pack rat and it was hard deciding what to take and what to sell. I agree, it is a very stressful time!

So sorry you didn't get the chance to hook up with Bev.

Last year at this time, my 81 year old father came to live out the last three months of his life with us.

Thank God I was close and able to provide a home during his dying days.

It's hard to have the roles reversed between parent and child and I pray for your strength. Having uninvolved siblings is a nightmare from which I haven't yet recovered.

God bless you in this important and oh so traumatic time.

My dad lived with us for over 20 years and I was one of 5. I was the lucky one.
