Your specifications are pretty vague, but you may be referring to the one of the following.

1. Field glazed unit: This is simply a piece of glass that is put in place and anchored on both sides with "stops" by your contractor/installer. The air and water infiltration parameters of this type of assembly will vary greatly depending on the experience of your installer. This is a least expensive option.

2. "Store-Front": This is a generalized term referring to commercial glazing systems. Commercial glazing systems are generally aluminum frames that provide very narrow "sight-lines" in the frame that suspend the glass. This can be an efficient and durable system. However, this is sometimes an expensive option if energy-efficiency is required for cold climates.

3. Direct Glazed: Many window manufacturers provide a fixed window frame system that provides narrow frame members to offer more view exposure and energy efficiency. These window types are simply narrow frames of either aluminum, clad-wood, plastic, steel, or wood. These are also sometimes efficient and durable depending on the frame material type (please use caution when dealing with plastics and attempting to suspend large glass areas). This option may be the middle priced of the three mentioned.

All of the above window types with narrow sight-lines (i.e. minimal frame exposure) are fixed, non-ventilating, windows.
