Hi ARTSY. Wish I had a more definitive answer for you on the tp holder, but it was one my mom gave me a long time ago, and SHE got it out of a storage unit. (My parents own a mini storage business, and stuff gets left so they can claim it.) It was painted with a lighthouse motif, and had a lighthouse cutout wired to the "chicken wire" part of the door. Also had a square box with a peaked roof on top painted to look like the "light". I would think something simple could be built out of 3/16" or so plywood, if you have the tools and willingness to do it. You could put a solid door on it to simplify it further. Now that it is mentioned, I REALLY LIKE IT!! I would realy like to make one of these and mosaicing it would be a total bonus!! Hmm, I wonder if one of those cd stands or video stands could be converted? Heck it actually is only 9 pcs of wood! I will def be looking into this! On decorating shows they show using a bit to drill into a pc of wood to make a tea light holder so that looks easy enough. And mosaicing over all my bad cuts would be a good idea..wow! this is really do-able!!! Oh I'm glad I'm out of my creative slump!!

HEY!! Another thought! I always give my kids a "joke" gift for Christmas! I could make one of these for my DD and the joke gift could be a nicely wrapped pkg of TP!! Ha! AND it would be even funnier cuz now that she is on her own, whenever I go over to her place I always have my purse loaded with kleenex, cuz she is always running out of tp! LOL! I know, TMI!! ha! Hey, JANIE! I'm SURE you could do this. As for the hole in the side, I think it's meant for one of those square tissue boxes, laid on its side, to pull tissues out the side. It could sure be done without that. The top is hinged. It did have a little hole on either side of the open box part, that a dowel rod went in to hold a roll of tissue for use.
