Some manufacturers only want to make the products and not be in the retail end. They will offer the item but at a higher price to encourage consumers to visit retail stores.

also watch out, from retailer to retailer, the "kit" can vary in what is included. so you have to factor in those different values, some stores will pair the mini grid and or safety break along with the morton "system" you have to have the grid so that will cost extra no matter what.

We just got ours from Delphi. It was $119.95 and it included the maxi grid, the portable glass shop and the safety break system. I don't know how much shipping would be though because we went to Delphi to get it.

Thanks, nice, for the heads-up....I've been torn because it was so expensive compared to my Glastar (which I had to build a very unsatisfactory frame for). I already have the maxigrid so I think this was just the post I've been waiting for because I had given up checking prices.

So, is the Morton system better than the Glastar? Making my Christmas list early.

For the Morton Portable Glass system, I strongly recommend the maxi surface. I had the small surface and purchased a second one when I bought the pro system, thinking I could put the two together - NOT. Did not work. So then I had to buy the maxi system. So learn from my mistake and do it right the first time.

I have the 14x22 grid surface, is that the maxi, or is there one bigger?

Nope, there is one bigger! Mine is 22 1/2 x 32. I guess it's the maxi.

MM, I had the Glastar first and would use it to cut strips of glass. If the edge didn't break cleanly, I found it was hard to try to score a clean edge so I could continue cutting strips. The Glastar did come with a circle cutting attachment which I have not tried yet. It was under $40.

I just opened the morton on Sunday and thanks to Chickee's help I am able to cut strips, squares, triangles & diamonds! I also like that the slivers of glass from cutting fall into the grid so I don't have to brush my work area off. HTH

I just received my Portable Glass shop , from Warners.. It was only $56.00, but price went up. I purchased the maxi grid as well. I wanted the teeny glass cutter but they were all out. Is this item any good? Or are there better circle cutters out there that are reasonably priced?
