Slow's Doxie is gravely ill and may not make it. I'm guessing she is not feeling up to company.

Well bless y'all's hearts. ROSIE told me y'all had put a thread about me on, so I KNOW this should be on the conversation side, but a short note. Toby has a ruptured disk - two days in hospital w/sterhoids/inflamatory meds at least got him up walking/wobblying - now for a week's treatment of Prednisone. Hoping for the best, but not much hope he'll progress any further than his wobbly little self. Oh, the love we have for our pets - and to see them suffer is just heartbreaking. Thank y'all so much for thinking of me and for your concern. Prayers welcome.

EEEww Predisone. Got a long story about a hound, a bag of raisins and predisone ( also a back problem). Anyway, the hound bounced back, hope Toby does as good!!

I have a dog with a long back, too (a corgi). They do cause worry, don't they??

I'm so sorry about Toby, Slow. I'm a dog groomer so I have seen lots of hurt backs. Even though alot of them stay pretty wobbly, they never seem to act like they are in a lot of pain. We just have to make sure they don't jump off of anything and its hard sometimes to shave their bellies and stuff but dogs are pretty tough little critters. They always seem just happy. I hope all goes well and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Slow - Have your HM build Toby some ramps to get up and down on the sofa, etc. Went thru this with a terrier cross-breed about 10 years ago. Tacky had doggie-width ramps down the back steps, the front steps, onto the sofa and onto our bed. It was hard for us to pick him up w/out hurting him when it was acting up, so we did the ramps at our vet's recommendation. Ck with your vet about a referral to a teaching vet hospital in the area - they are up to the minute on all the latest treatments, and often little or no cost, too.

Slow, so sorry to hear about Toby. My cousin has 3 doxies so she warned us about the back problems they can have when we wanted to get a dog...we ended up with a Bichon. Thinking about you both.

Thanks again, y'all. I've built the ramps to outside and the sofa, CURB. He won't use the one to the sofa, so I'm getting a crate today, and w/confine him except for a little walking to outside to do his business, and w/lift him up/down from sofa when I sit w/him. W/two back operations of my own, lifting his 28.5 lbs. is wearing on me to say the least. Thank y'all so much for your wonderful messages, and I so appreciate your concern, thoughts and prayers.
