Hey! That doesn't sound too bad!
You could always use it for "filler" or do totally abstract with all sizes! Do you normally work with just larger pieces of glass? Remember the chimney tile I did?? That was all scraps. None of the pieces were over 1". This can be a wonderful exploration for you!! Don't bum out!
Well, on the good side, you got to spend time with your two favorite people! Plus you got some new pattern books.
Which books did you get?

That is great size scrap. I love to mosaic with small shards. When I went and picked up scrap from freecycle I got 2 five gallon buckets of small size scrap(1 inch and smaller). Its perfect for me and i don't have to feel guilty about breaking a big pretty sheet of the stuff. I also got larger scrap which i have yet to touch other than to sort and file it by color. The larger scrap actually surprised me I had expected it to be all small scrap.

Where did you go for the scrap, Barb? Sorry you were so disappointed. I guess "how big are the scrap pieces?" would be a good thing to ask. I would never have though of it. At least you got some new books!

well, I hope this makes you feel better....
when I found the good fortune of glass on Craig's list..all the pieces are of different sizes...from maybe 10" by 1" and anything and everything in between.
I'm sitting at my work table, on purpose, cutting everything to 1" or smaller...
so, if that helps, you still found a good deal.
you can't possibly do a bb, with any piece bigger than an inch.

personally, I prefer very small pieces, unless one is doing a stained glass window picture or GOG..
but for me...the smaller the better (did I just say that??..lol)

Awwwwwwwww, at least you got some. And some books also. I have been lucky is all. Hope you can do some great projects with what you got.

Maria, we drove to Mendon, MI to get the glass. I finally emptied the car and brought all my glass in to the house. I opened up the packages of sheet glass and was shocked to see that 2 of the red are actually red mirror! It was so dark in the store where her glass was that it was really hard to tell what some of the colors were. In the first pic the 2 pieces of glass on the left are the red mirror.

I also got 2 boxes of scrap that I haven't gone through yet. I still can't believe my DD and DH spent 45 minutes digging through that scrap bin!!! DH said there is 36 pounds of scrap altogether, and I got 6 bowling balls, not 5. I got all this for $100 so I guess I did get a good deal???

I'm feeling a lot better about it today...or maybe it's because I worked on my holiday exchange gift and I made a lot of progress on it! LOL

BTW, I have the Birds and Butterflies book. One day I want to do a large butterfly..something with a wing span of say 3 feet!

That's exactly what I thought too Maria when she said she lived in Mendon, MI. I had to mapquest it to see where the heck it was and yep, it's out Jackson-Battle Creek way! LOL
