Thank you all for your compliments! Sometimes I think that's what kept me going on all those curvy places - thinking I have to finish to show the forum. Where the green pieces are on the top, those are 24 "bumps" around the edge. No wonder people who know what they are talking about suggest filling in all the curves with thinset before you start! The colors started with trying to use up many small solid dark green pieces (background of post) and then, of course, I ran out and had to buy more. I know it looks like it just has white thinset or the raw concrete peaking through but it really is grouted dark gray. I wasn't sure how big the pics were so I didn't want people to have to sit through the time if they were too big. Of course, I want to see big pics of all your work because I love to see all the detail.

DIY, I love your bright, cheerful, birdbath. It looks GREAT! That should sure make the birds happy.

WOW Your birdbath is STUNNING!!! WOW WOW WOW I keep looking at it. SO BEAUTIFUL!! The curves had to be a challange. I think I would have to keep that one in the house as a side table or something. Just beautiful. I am so glad you stuck with it. And your pictures are PERFECT. I know I like to be able to see every little detail.

Really bright and cheery. How long did it take you to complete it? Did you plan out the pattern on the birdbath before you started? I would love to tackle one this winter, but am not sure if you draw your design on it before starting.

Thank you all so much again. Sirius, I would guess this took me between 40-60 hours, not really sure. I drew the flowers and vine on the basin and the flowers and "twirly part" of the base on roughly with chalk cause it will come off so easily. Other than that I didn't have a clue. I kept seeing the twirly part of the base in my head but could never get that how I wanted it. Don't ya just hate that? I ended up taking some whole secions off after I had thinsetted them. Just wiped the thinset off and scratched it up a little for tooth and did it again. The marbles were last because I couldn't think of anything else to do and I wanted to get it finished. All this is to say, as much as I bumbled around on this, you can certainly do it! Now bama's birdbath, that's a beauty of a bird bath! I could never cut glass like that (although it's giving me an excuse to order a Morton for myself for Christmas).

Wow...that's just beautiful....I agree with everyone who said it was "happy" and "cheerful" looking. It really is! It just makes you smile to look at it. Beautiful work and nice placement and spacing of the tesserae, and I love the swirl around the bottom. Beautiful work!
