Interior Lighting

I'm sure there was a thread not all that long ago inquiring about lighting ideas. Of course, I have a particular affinity for lighting. Even more than paint, lighting can change the entire appearance of a room. And even simpler than paint, the mood in a room can be changed as easy as unplugging and moving a lamp from one corner to another.

My partner calls me a light fixture whore because I will buy them even when we don't need them, play with them, paint them, switch them all around. But I have never purchased a lamp not on clearance. I have standards y'know.

This is our foyer light. Semi-flush in brushed nickel. The glass is mouth-blown something-or-other and very colorful. From Home Depot off the shelf.

Our bar-slash-buffet area has two desk lamps, also in the similar glass as the foyer light, Home Depot, OTS.

Underneath the desk that serves as a bar-slash-buffet I have a puck light for illuminating anything I happen to put under there. It's easy and unexpected.

There are only two lamps in our living space and between them there is 40 watts of light.

This single light is a bit small but I like it so. It's a dented floor model from (you guessed it) Home Depot I got for $5.

And this table lamp was purchased at the same place we got our couch. Theres a huge (like 9" long) crack down the left side which no one has noticed yet- at least not that they told me. It was $25.

I am a huge fan of lots of light without the obvious use of traditional fixtures. The pendant over the dining room table came from Lowes ($40), the china cabinet has two interior lights and the small frosted glass pedestal can illuminate something pretty when the mood strikes me. The glass pedestal also acts as a nice night-light when guests stay the night.

Of course I love picture lights and have a number throughout the house. They are all on timed switches that turn them on & off automatically.

And of course I love interesting light sources. I found these staked glass bowls at a chochke shop for $5 each and snatched them up. Candles floating in house plants? Who would have thought.

We also have the obligatory up-lights in the large potted palm, but no decent pictures yet. Almost all of our fixtures have CFLs and the savings to our PG&E is quite noticable. Also, any light source than can reasonably be on a dimmer is.
