Paneling a Stairway

I am building a Shingle Style home and wish to panel the stairway from basement to second floor, including the underside of the stairs. I thought paneling came premade but I guess not. Carpenter has a quote of $11K to do this with painting, caulking and installing with crown. Anyone familiar with paneling. Is this reasoned?

seriously? For 11K I would try to think outside of the box.
What is the look you are striving for? I wonder if you are thinking of the white panel board ( sorry I simply cannot think of the words) like an apron in a dining room--?
I do not think that real wood paneling has been manufactured since the 60's.
Please more info about what you are looking for.
