I love her ideas and style... but some of her mosaics look so lumpy? Those of you here that work in plates make it look so smooth. I can't imagine using that table, it's very pretty though

Cute idea! I agree the mosaics look "lumpy"...like they aren't grouted. I saw 30 old windows on craigslist the other day, would have gotten them but I'm sure that would have killed DH. I'm a pack rat, he's a minimalist. Go figure. I couldn't have stopped with just partially mosaicing the windows, I would have had to cover every edge!

These window creations are great! I used to have a great link from the garden junk side that had planting tables made with old windows as doors and old sinks in them, all mosaiced, still love em! (One of those 938 projects on the list...)

Wish I could find some like that!Would love to do projects with old windows!

Yep, I've seen her stuff. DH and I went to Canton flea market..(first Monday is what they call it) about a year ago. We walked for 5 hours and still didn't see it all!
I agree with NT, yalls plate stuff looks better!

I've been thinking about this. It's the perfect example of the difference between amateur and professional outlined by Debrady's tutorials. Our work is often higher quality than people who do this for a living because they need to produce it in a timely manner to be profitable while we have the luxery of time to mess around perfecting our projects.

Annie, Great link. Love the look of those. Trying to think of a way to protect them in winter. Maybe if I did one with out glass for the top it would work here??

LOL Foxglove your fist works might have been lumpy but they were one of the inspirations that got me to even thinking of trying mosaics. I REMEMBER this picture and saving it to keep looking at. And drooling over it and finally starting my first project. Mine is even more lumpy and SHARP!!! Oh Baby my fingers were shreaded after grouting.

Bianchi. NOPE the first one was HORRIBLE with sharp edges. I learned a good lesson on that one. The oly part that was smooth was the light blue tiles in the corners. They were all the same height.

Even now mine are not perfecly floa. I just bevel the edges from thick to thin. I do try to keep with the same thickness pieces. Almost impossible with china. I know Annie and some others build up with thinset. I have never tried it. I suppose I should.

I didn't look at the details of the mosaics but,she only charges 100-150 for them amde so i thought that was pretty good.especially for those of us that can't find old windows.

I always loved that about this (and the garden Junk) forum... you can always find lots of encouragement and insperation.
I actually did a GOG vase the other night. I will take a pic as soon as I find my camera. Have I mentioned I hate moving?
