Sirius, that is beautiful! The intricate details with the ornaments is very unique. I can see why you said you wouldn't do the leaves again - geez that's a lot of nippin' going on there. Very nice piece! This will make nice gifts!

Your detail in the tree is wonderful! I can see why the leaves would be a pita, but they are wonderful. The milliefiori really look like garland, too. The rhinestones were pretty...I wonder if it would be possible to stick them in after grouting. Would the grout hold them like thinset would???

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. It will help me plug along at the 3 I have left to do. Those leaves took probably a good 2 hours to cut. I found I'm not done either. After thinking about different designs, leaves look best on the base, so all 4 tree bases will be leaves.

Siruis- Wow that really turned out awesome. I liked the rhinstones but I LOVE the milliefori (sp?) It just sets it off. I cannot imagine hanging all those ornaments the way you did but man do they look great!!!! It had to be a pita to grout around them!!!! As far as those leaves...I did a mosaic platter fern once all made of leaves and boy did I vow never to do another one of those!!! Your leaves look great you did such a great job!!!

I'm Amazed at how all your glass pieces seem to "match up" - there's got to be a trick to that !

Yeah grouting around each bulb was a treat. I had them wrapped up with the blue tape, but still got some grout on them. And drilling the holes for the wire to go through - well, I broke 3 bits. My DH warned me they were very thin and fragile. In fact, one bit has become one with the tree - still stuck inside the wood. Three out of the four trees will be gifts. The last one I do will be for me. Cutting the leaves has now left both the first 3 fingers on each hand with teensy cuts all over each. Was ouchy for a day, but the work must go on!

Oh, how pretty, and such a great idea, and so very neatly worked. I know what you mean about repeating things - gets boring after a couple, huh? You could attach ornaments on each point to the boughs for variety, as well as a star on top. Just a suggestion.

Im not sure I read how you did the ornaments correctly, but could you not insert the wires into the wood, grout them in and then attach the ornaments and trim any excess? Then maybe it wouldnt be so hard to grout around the ornaments.

I didn't think that maybe I could have grouted the wire in first - maybe I'll try that on another one. I forgot that I do have some stars to put at the tops of the trees, just not sure I was going to use them. The ones I've found so far look kind of cheap.
