UH OH..........................

right after I posted this, you guess it....
I got a call back from the person with all the stash...

now, please advise me....
first, is 150 pieces of glass, mostly 8x12
some is 12x12
two wooden boxes to hold it..
and that's for $150
next is all the rest of the tools, grinder and a huge work station, that's made to fold up...
92"x12"x35"....for $50.
he hasn't touched any of it, in nearly 20 years..
and is willing to wheel and deal....
oh my...what to do....what to do......
what would you do??????

The only thing that would bother me is if the grinder is really old. When I picked up the grinder I got off Craig's list, the grinder head had been left on and it was all we could do to first get the screw loosened, then trying to get the head off that seemed to become one with the grinder. I would ask first what condition it's in. But then that is a lot of glass that is probably worth over $100.

The glass alone is an excellent deal - I would snatch it up in a heartbeat if it were close to me!

I think the the tools, grinder and foldable workstation are also an excellent deal even if the grinder is a total bust and you trash it.

If there is anyway you can scrape this $$ I'd say GO FOR IT.

I would go look and dirker with him. 150 piece of glass is worth alot.

WEll I will pass on my saga on this. I have been watching Craig's list for a couple of weeks or longer for a grinder saw anything stained glass tools. Finally gave up and yesterday ordered grinder and Morton system a couple of tools. TODAY add for Grinder and all tools $100.00. Sigh Well at least I can console myself in I first tired. Second it would be a 200 mile round trip and lunch to go get them. Third as stated here no idea how old. I did get a lead on another stained glass artist that does lots. I will contact them to see if the have scrap glass for sale. No I do not need more except purple but who can pass it up?

it's good to know the glass is a good deal..
since I have only come across scraps, I don't know how much a real piece would cost..
I have looked at the glass on the glass store sites but never went as far as to compare prices at all.
I know that I love the iridescent ones...
and heck, I like all the colors...who wouldn't?

so, he's going to call me, between 8 and 9am...
I can at least see what's there and maybe have him hold some, for getting it in bunches...he's not moving...it's just that he said he doesn't need it any longer.

winter is so close...it would be a great time to acquire it.

I've been gone for the past few hours and have time to get my thoughts straight and actually have some ideas in mind to begin with..
like a unicorn, for the cancer survivor friend of mine..who collects special unicorns.

and a moose, for one daughter who loves them...
and a cabin in the woods....
