Pea those are great! I say anything we can use as tesserae should be discussed here as it opens your mind as to what can be used.

Those are wonderful Pea...curious of the process...beautiful work. I don't mince anything when it comes to embellishing my mosaics....Do you roll out your clay...stamp or cut your design, glaze and bake it in a kiln like ceramics? Oh to have a kiln!!!

Those are so cute! You have a kiln! lucky you, you don't have to go hunting for bits and pieces, you can just make whatever you want! Cool!

Yes i have a kiln, I am a pottery teacher.

I roll out my slab, for texture I use old stained doillies I find at the thrift store and roll it in using the rolling pin and lift the doilly out. Many things can be used for texture...rolling rice into clay can give a nice texture too(rice doesn't have to be removed as it burns out in the kiln). Then I use cookie cutters to cut my shapes. I let dry. I then bisque fire in my kiln, then glaze or paint on oxide, then kiln fire again.

I steer away from using stamps to avoid copyright issus that can arise from using commercial stamps in items I sell. So just a heads up to stamp users...go to the websites of the company that make your stamps and read their copyright policy when using their stamps to make thing for sale.
